In the 2020-2021 period, tourism activities were almost paralyzed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with the number of visitors and revenue reaching only about 40% compared to 2019.
However, since 2022, Gia Lai tourism has begun to flourish: domestic visitors increased by 14%, total revenue increased by 22% compared to the pre-pandemic period. In the period 2022-2025, the number of visitors increased by an average of 21.2%/year, revenue increased by 17.2%/year. In the whole period 2021-2025, the average growth rate reached 39%/year in visitors and 43%/year in revenue - numbers showing the strong development potential of the locality.
Gia Lai province has organized many training courses to raise awareness and innovate thinking about tourism development. Specifically, the province has implemented courses to disseminate documents, digital transformation in state management, 12 training courses on rural tourism knowledge for 600 students, and 8 training courses on community tourism skills in localities.
In addition, there are 9 digital transformation classes for tourism businesses along with skills competitions and regular training courses to improve service quality and capacity for the tourism workforce. This is an important foundation for sustainable tourism development.
Regarding the development of tourism products, the province has focused on developing valuable cultural and ecological tourist destinations such as Kon Ha Nung World Biosphere Reserve, Tay Son Thuong Dao Relic Complex, and Roc Tung-Go Da National Relic.
At the same time, the province promotes the development of community tourism and rural tourism models in ethnic minority villages such as Op and Ia Nueng villages (Pleiku city); Stor and Mo Hra-Dap villages (Kbang district); Kep and Ia Gri villages (Chu Pah district).
In particular, the OCOP product development model project on community tourism in Mo Hra-Dap village (Kong Long Khong commune) with a total capital of 14.5 billion VND has completed nearly 100% of the workload. To date, more than 91.8% of the capital has been disbursed.
From 2022-2024, the National Target Program will support 1.8 billion VND for tourism promotion activities in 10 ethnic minority villages, while raising awareness and skills in serving community tourism.

Regarding infrastructure development investment, in the 2021-2024 period, Gia Lai has invested more than 143 billion VND in tourism infrastructure, focusing on key projects such as upgrading Bien Ho infrastructure, the road to Tay Son Thuong Dao relic site, preserving relics in An Khe, building a database and applying smart tourism, developing sustainable forests in Kon Ka Kinh National Park and Kon Chu Rang Conservation Area.
Total investment in tourism infrastructure in the 2021-2024 period will reach VND382 billion, mainly from equity and loans from local businesses, focusing on upgrading accommodation facilities and some tourist attractions.

The promotion and advertising of Gia Lai tourism has been strongly implemented with many diverse forms, contributing to spreading the image of local tourism to a large number of tourists. The province also strengthens its links with localities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang and neighboring provinces, through annual tourism promotion conferences and events, to attract travel businesses to bring tourists to Gia Lai.
With the results achieved in the 2021-2025 period, along with a methodical investment orientation, improving service quality and effectively exploiting local potential, Gia Lai is facing the opportunity to make a stronger breakthrough. In particular, the advantage of connecting forests and seas after merging with Binh Dinh province will open up new development space, helping Gia Lai maximize its strategic position, becoming the leading attractive destination in the region.
