The Cam Lam New Urban Area Project is located in the administrative boundaries of Cam Lam Commune and Bac Cam Ranh Ward, with a total area of over 2,049 hectares; of which Cam Lam Commune is over 1,792 hectares (over 1,190 hectares of Thuy Trieu Lagoon water surface), with a population of about 40,690 people. At the meeting, the representative of the consulting unit reported on the environmental impact assessment of the project in Area 1 from the beginning to the completion of the project such as: Environmental impact of the renovation and improvement of Thuy Trieu Lagoon on the seawater environment in Thuy Trieu Lagoon and Cam Ranh Bay, describing the assessment of the impact of Thuy Trieu Canal on the possibility of landslides and sedimentation in neighboring areas, etc.

At the meeting, people proposed issues such as: Need to assess the impact of seawater intrusion into the mainland when renovating Thuy Trieu lagoon; impact on crops and fishing activities of people in the project area...
Speaking at the meeting, the leader of Cam Lam commune requested the consulting unit to receive people's opinions to complete the report; at the same time, requested the consulting unit to determine the saline intrusion, if any, and solutions when implementing the project; and the impacts on the lives of people in the affected area.
