Vietnam team excelled in the finals of the world team billiards tournament

(Dan Tri) - Overcoming the very strong team Belgium in the semi-finals, the Vietnamese 3-cushion carom billiards team won the right to enter the finals of the 2025 world team championship.

The World National Team Championship for 3-cushion billiards is taking place in Viersen (Germany). In the semi-final tonight (March 16), the Vietnamese team will participate in the tournament with two players Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh.

Tran Quyet Chien plans to face Peter Ceulemans, while Bao Phuong Vinh will face Roland Forthomme. In the group stage of this year's tournament, the two Belgian players defeated the two Vietnamese players.

But in the semi-finals, things were different. The two Vietnamese players played extremely well. In the match between Tran Quyet Chien and Peter Ceulemans, the number one Vietnamese player continuously took the lead over his opponent.

After 24 rounds, Tran Quyet Chien defeated the Belgian player with a score of 40-20. In which, the 22nd round was the round in which Tran Quyet Chien scored the most points, with 9 points.

At the next table, Bao Phuong Vinh was at one point led by Roland Forthomme. At the end of the first half (according to the rules, when one of the two players reaches the 20th point or more, the match will be interrupted), the Belgian player led 20-15.

However, in the second half, Bao Phuong Vinh played with great confidence. He led his opponent 21-20, and from here Bao Phuong Vinh put Roland Forthomme on the chase.

The gap between the two sides was increasingly widened by the Vietnamese athlete, before Bao Phuong Vinh won 40-25, after 20 rounds.

In the end, the Vietnam 3-cushion carom billiards team won the first ticket to the final. The opponents of Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong in the final will be the winner of the match between the Netherlands and Türkiye, which will take place right after the first semi-final. The final will take place tonight (March 16, Vietnam time).
