Vietnam women's volleyball team arrives in Thailand, ready for world tournament

(Dan Tri) - On the morning of August 20, the Vietnamese volleyball team left for Thailand, preparing to compete in the 2025 World Championship.

Although the flight was scheduled to depart at 10:30, the members of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team arrived very early to check in at Noi Bai airport ( Hanoi ). According to the records, the athletes were in a very relaxed and excited mood before the biggest tournament they were participating in.

Before leaving for Thailand, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team said goodbye to their opposing team, Nguyen Bich Tuyen. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet only had 13 athletes participating in the world championship.

Regarding her decision to leave the team, Bich Tuyen shared: “It was not because of a lack of desire to compete, but because of new requirements from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) regarding the competition conditions of athletes. For me, sport is not only about competition but also about respect and fairness.

I feel that these regulations lack transparency and fairness towards athletes. I believe that every athlete deserves to compete in an environment of respect and equality."

"To protect myself and avoid unnecessary risks for the team, Tuyen decided to withdraw. I will spend this time focusing on training and preparing for future tournaments. I believe that with the best preparation, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will still compete with all their might and achieve new successes," Bich Tuyen affirmed.

With Bich Tuyen not playing, the strength of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has been greatly affected. The 2000-born hitter is the team's main scorer. Most recently, in the historic victory over Thailand in the second round of the SEA V-League 2025, she scored 45 points.

After arriving in Bangkok (Thailand), coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team moved to Phuket, having 3 days to prepare before the opening match against Poland, at 8:30 p.m. on August 23.
