
Vietnamese disabled chess players participated in the tournament with two athletes, Doan Thu Huyen and Tran Thi Bich Thuy, both from Hanoi and with extensive international competition experience. This year’s tournament brought together 97 players from 18 countries, competing in three categories: standard chess, rapid chess and blitz chess, with a total prize value of up to 15,000 USD.
On the night of July 25, information from India, head coach of the Vietnamese team Bui Quang Vu said that on the competition day of July 24, the blitz chess event ended with very encouraging results for Vietnamese disabled chess. Athlete Tran Thi Bich Thuy excellently won the Gold Medal in the women's wheelchair category with 5 points/9 games, while Doan Thu Huyen won the Bronze Medal in the women's motor disability category with 5.5 points. Although competing together, the organizing committee awarded separate medals for each category.

Then, on July 25, in the rapid chess event, player Tran Thi Bich Thuy continued to compete well and won another bronze medal in the women's wheelchair category. The two athletes of the Vietnamese disabled chess team are currently preparing to enter the final rounds of the standard chess event, taking place from July 28 to 30.
Mr. Bui Quang Vu also assessed that the achievements of Vietnamese players in rapid chess and blitz chess recently were truly encouraging. It accurately reflected the preparation for the tournament as well as the actual level of Vietnamese players.
The tournament is scheduled to close on July 30.
