Investigation into the destruction of more than 1.6 hectares of forest in Lam Dong

On January 26, the Dam Rong District Forest Protection Department ( Lam Dong ) announced that it had decided to initiate a criminal case to investigate the crime of forest destruction that occurred in part of Lot 12, Block 4, Lot 2, Block 5, Sub-area 189, the forest area managed by the Serepok Protective Forest Management Board (under the administrative boundary of Ro Men commune, Dam Rong district) after discovering a large area of ​​forest had been destroyed.

Specifically, through grasping the situation, the authorities caught Giang Van Bang (born in 1999, residing in village 5, Ro Men commune, Dam Rong district) committing illegal deforestation in sub-area 189. After inventory, the authorities determined that 16,300m2 (1.63ha) of forest had been destroyed. This is a bamboo forest, belonging to the production forest category. After discovering the incident, the police agency, the People's Procuracy of Dam Rong district coordinated with the forest owner to organize a crime scene investigation and investigate the above illegal deforestation case.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Dong province also requested forest owners to take measures to plant and restore forests right in the area that has just been destroyed, not leaving the land vacant to avoid encroachment and re-encroachment of forestry land.
