Candidates must have a new way of expressing themselves, with a personal style.
Mr. Phan Minh Hoang, Professional Department of eTeacher Tutor Company, commented that this year's exam questions followed the standard structure as announced by the Ministry of Education and Training. The knowledge asked was all within the curriculum, there were no tricky questions or questions that made it difficult for students. This showed consistency in the direction of the exam questions, creating favorable conditions for candidates to review and demonstrate their abilities.
The reading comprehension section is considered quite basic with familiar question types such as "narrator" or "analyze the effect of rhetorical devices". The data retrieval questions are also easy to find. However, the highlight of this section is the thinking questions (questions 4 and 5). These questions require students to not only have a solid grasp of knowledge but also have a focused, correct answer that shows personal identity and insight into the material.
Candidates in the 2025 high school graduation exam
Mr. Phan Minh Hoang also noted that the reading comprehension material is a bit long, requiring students to have good comprehension skills, grasp the problem and express and present it reasonably to achieve maximum score. Compared to the old program, this year's reading comprehension section is still at an appropriate level, not causing difficulties for candidates.
The Writing section of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam also follows the structure announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, including a literary essay question (NLVH) related to reading comprehension material and a social essay question (NLXH) with similar content.
Mr. Hoang assessed that the NLVH question is familiar and relatively easy with a length of 200 words. The expert believes that students only need to clearly state the main requirements, while ensuring that it meets the requirements of a "paragraph".
Mr. Hoang assessed the NLXH question as the highlight of this year's exam. The NLXH question deals with the issue of "any homeland's sky is the Fatherland's sky", which is in line with the current context of a country undergoing many changes. This requirement requires students to have a correct perspective, a new way of expressing themselves, and a personal style.
Literature exam: Measuring the ability to connect book knowledge and life experience
According to Ms. Tran Ngoc Phuong Yen, Professional Department of eTeacher Tutor Company, unlike the old exam questions that focused on literature, often revolving around familiar works in textbooks - where students have been exposed to and their ability to appreciate literature is measured - the exam questions according to the new program have clearly changed, reflecting the spirit of the times and clearly showing the differentiation of social knowledge.
After the Literature exam, candidates will take the Math exam on the afternoon of June 26.
Ms. Yen said that instead of just testing literary ability, the new exam should closely follow practical issues of the country, especially in the context of Vietnam entering the "Era of Rising" - a period of strong innovation and deep integration.
"Therefore, the exam requires candidates to not only master writing skills, but also have independent thinking, rich life experiences and a comprehensive view of the changes in modern society," Ms. Yen shared.
According to the expert, the unique features of this type of question are its updating, topicality and ability to stimulate multi-dimensional thinking. It is no longer a test of academic knowledge, but a measure of the ability to connect bookish knowledge and life experience - an essential quality of citizens in the new era. Therefore, the more candidates demonstrate creativity, critical thinking and deep personal perspective, the easier it is to make an impression and achieve high scores.
