The mark of Japanese investors in Phu Tho
One of the typical examples of Japanese companies' confidence in the investment environment in Vietnam is Honda Vietnam Company (HVN). At the end of June 2025, HVN produced its 40 millionth motorbike - an important milestone in nearly 30 years of operation.
From the first factory in Vinh Phuc (old) with a capacity of 500,000 vehicles/year, Honda Vietnam has expanded to three modern factories, reaching a production capacity of 2.75 million vehicles/year. In fiscal year 2025 alone (April 1, 2024 - March 31, 2025), HVN produced 2.3 million vehicles, an increase of 10% over the same period. In addition to the domestic market, Honda Vietnam also promotes the export of "Made in Vietnam" products to more than 23 countries and territories.
In particular, HVN's localization rate has reached 96% (as of May 2025), with a network of nearly 800 HEADs and 175 domestic suppliers. HVN not only plays a leading role in production but also pioneers in applying new technology, ensuring safety standards, fuel economy and environmental friendliness.
In parallel with production activities, HVN also actively implements its social responsibilities. In fiscal year 2025, the company will maintain the operation of rooftop solar power systems at two factories in Vinh Phuc (now Phu Tho) and Ha Nam (now Ninh Binh) with a total capacity of 8MWp to help reduce CO2 emissions into the environment; closely coordinate with suppliers to effectively implement CO2 reduction activities as part of HVN's long-term commitment to sustainable development goals; provide traffic skills training to 28 million people and donate more than 10 million helmets to first-graders from 2018 to present.
Recently, in a working session with Ms. Sayaka Hattori, General Director of Honda Vietnam Company, Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Tran Duy Dong emphasized: "Enterprises investing in Phu Tho are citizens of the province; the success of enterprises is also the success of the locality". The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that Phu Tho province always accompanies the business community, is ready to listen, share, promptly remove difficulties and obstacles in the investment process and production - business activities, including Honda Vietnam Company.
Investment environment has been greatly improved.
Identifying Japan as a strategic investor, Phu Tho province has established many effective coordination mechanisms, such as: Establishing a working group to support Honda Vietnam Company in implementing emission reduction solutions, enhancing investment policy exchanges, accompanying businesses in overcoming difficulties, promoting new projects with Japanese partners such as Sojitz Group, suppliers in the chain of Canon, Yamaha...
Phu Tho has synchronously deployed many breakthrough solutions to improve the investment and business environment such as establishing a special working group, a hotline and an investment promotion and business support center to support investors promptly and effectively. Organizing the "Business Coffee" model for regular dialogue, proactively grasping and removing difficulties for businesses. Promoting administrative reform, providing online public services with a rate of 85.6%, administrative procedures resolved on time reaching over 99% each year. The province pays special attention to inter-regional transport infrastructure, prioritizing investment resources for strategic routes connecting industrial parks, tourist areas and raw material areas with the national system.
Increasing attractiveness with new wave of FDI
Currently, Phu Tho province is strongly attracting Japanese enterprises in high value-added sectors such as: Electronic components, precision mechanics, supporting industries, high-tech food processing. Modern industrial parks such as Trung Ha, Phu Ninh, Tam Nong, Thang Long Vinh Phuc, Ba Thien II... are well-planned, with synchronous infrastructure, opening up a large space for international investors.
In addition, Phu Tho province implements outstanding incentive policies: Tax exemption and reduction, support for human resource training, investment in technical infrastructure in industrial parks and clusters and promotion of digital government development, service government to accompany businesses from the investment stage to operation.
With comprehensive and consistent efforts, Phu Tho has been gradually affirming the trust of Japanese corporations. The increasing presence of enterprises from the land of the rising sun is proof of a stable, transparent and competitive investment environment. Phu Tho, a new destination for the new generation of FDI, is ready to welcome "Japanese friends" to cooperate, develop and together create the future.
