Food service is growing strongly, especially thanks to the rise of home food ordering and delivery applications. In the first 5 months of 2025 alone, the food service industry in the province recorded outstanding growth compared to the same period in previous years.

According to the assessment of the functional sector, in the first months of 2025, trade and service activities in the province continued to maintain a stable growth momentum, in which the food service industry stood out. Food service establishments basically met the needs of people and tourists, especially during the peak holiday season of April 30 and May 1. Data from the Provincial Statistics Office showed that in the first 5 months of 2025, total revenue from food services in the province was estimated at nearly 1,435.6 billion VND, an increase of nearly 28% over the same period in 2024. This is a high growth rate in recent years. In particular, in May alone, revenue from food services in the whole province reached over 288.5 billion VND, an increase of 32.7% over the same month last year. Thus, compared to previous months, the food service sector had a strong breakthrough in May and according to the assessment of the functional sector, the growth rate will continue to be maintained in the summer months. The reason is that in the summer, the harsh hot weather causes the demand for eating out to increase. During the summer, students are on vacation, so families often take their children to supermarkets and shopping centers for entertainment, shopping and eating.

Although the economy is still facing many difficulties, the results achieved show the strong recovery and development of the food service industry after the prolonged negative impacts of the pandemic. Mr. Hoang Chi Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, affirmed: In the past time, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ha Nam has done a good job of coordinating with relevant departments and branches in implementing solutions to support businesses and business households to recover and develop production and business, including the food service business sector - one of the service industries most negatively affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the post-Covid-19 economic crisis. The focus is on calling on credit institutions to support businesses and business households to borrow preferential loans to expand their business scale. Along with that, doing a good job of reviewing, grasping the situation, coordinating inspections, and disseminating to business owners and business households the provisions of the law on food hygiene and safety; Implement documents of specialized agencies on food safety work under the management of the industry and trade sector. Accordingly, the food and beverage industry is the service industry with the highest growth in the trade and service sector in the first half of 2025. This is an optimistic signal, an important driving force to promote the province's economic growth.

Hoi An Coffee Shop (Western urban area of Day River, Le Hong Phong ward, Phu Ly city) attracts many family customers during the summer.

Having been in the beverage business for many years, Ms. Hoang Thi Hang, owner of Hoi An Coffee Shop (Le Hong Phong Ward, Phu Ly City) clearly grasped the "golden" opportunity to improve revenue during the recent April 30 and May 1 holidays and the summer months when students were on vacation. Therefore, from the beginning of the second quarter of 2025, Ms. Hang added to the menu of the shop drinks that are loved by young people such as milk tea and homemade yogurt. Along with that, she has added more snacks than before, including sausages, fried sour spring rolls, Chinese sausages, fried meatballs, etc. To attract students and families to the shop, Hoi An Coffee Shop has also added new equipment and toys to the children's play area on the premises; at the same time, it has expanded its business to the field of statue painting - a business form that combines sales and creative experiences, suitable for many subjects, especially children and young people. Ms. Hoang Thi Hang, owner of Hoi An Coffee Shop, said: To attract customers, recently, the shop has promoted its drinks and space on social networking sites. The number of customers coming to the shop in the past 2 months is mostly groups of students and families with young children. Coming to the shop, students not only get to participate in many games but the shop also has a space for them to read stories and refer to English communication books. Therefore, the shop is chosen by many families as a destination on weekends or in the evenings. I am expecting that revenue will increase in the 3 summer months so that the shop can reach its growth target of 30% in 2025.

Through research, it is known that at this time, not only large restaurants and cafes attract a large number of customers to eat and use their services, but also popular eateries, office meals, sweet soup shops, and sidewalk cafes maintain a stable number of customers, including a sudden increase in home delivery orders. Explaining this, Ms. Le Thi Quy, owner of a bun cha and broken rice shop on Bui Di Street (Phu Ly City) said: Since the beginning of summer, the number of customers calling to order food for home delivery has increased. I have to regularly hire people to deliver food throughout the city. The reason is that due to the hot weather, many families do not want to cook or prepare food after work. The heat also makes people afraid to go to restaurants. It is estimated that in the first 5 months of 2025, the number of customers ordering food to take home increased by about 35% compared to the same period last year. To attract customers, the shop applies the card exchange for broken rice for customers. Every time you make a purchase, you will receive a card from the restaurant. When you have accumulated 10 cards, you will be able to buy a broken rice dish for 0 VND.

Thus, the food service industry is showing an increasing trend in terms of the number of customers, scale, and quality of service. To increase competitiveness in the era of technology 4.0, in addition to the hotel system, restaurants and eateries are also focusing on investing in digital transformation, applying technology in introducing menus, prices, ordering, payment, delivery, etc. Thereby, increasing the experience, better meeting the needs of customers.
