Legend has it that Anh Vu fish appeared in our country since 2000 BC. Around the 14th century, during the reign of the 3rd Hung King, a fisherman caught Anh Vu fish in the Lo River area and immediately brought it to the king. It looked strange but delicious, the king considered it a rare fish species. And from then on, people who caught Anh Vu fish had to bring it to the king. In Dai Nam Nhat Thong Chi, it is also recorded: "Anh Vu fish is also called Gia Ngu, living at the junction of Bach Hac River. Every year, it is only available in the cold season. The fish is very delicious and nutritious. From Bach Hac River downstream, it is no longer available". More specifically, in Du Dia Chi, Nguyen Trai also wrote: “Anh Vu fish is used as an offering to the gods…”.
