Gratitude means responsibility, affection from the heart

During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always emphasized: “War invalids, sick soldiers, families of soldiers and families of martyrs are those who have contributed to the Fatherland and the People. Therefore, our duty is to be grateful, to love and to help them”. In memory of these contributions, over the years, the Party Committee, government and people of Tay Ninh province have always focused on implementing the movement of “Repaying gratitude”, considering it both a responsibility and a sacred sentiment coming from the heart.

Gratitude

At the age of over 75, poor health and war consequences make it difficult for Ms. Trinh Thi Tien, a 1/4 disabled veteran (residing in Long An ward), to move around. However, she remains optimistic, always advising and teaching her children and grandchildren to live a decent life, focus on their studies and continue the family tradition.

The wounds still on her body are not only physical pain but also proof of her sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. Currently, Ms. Tien enjoys the full monthly allowance for people with revolutionary contributions. Not only that, on holidays and Tet, the local government organizes delegations to visit her, give her gifts and encourage her spirit. These seemingly simple concerns make her feel shared, giving her more will to live.

“As a war invalid like me, I receive regular attention, and I feel that I am not left behind. Every time the delegation visits and supports me, I feel warmer and appreciate more the affection that the authorities, sectors and society have for me,” Ms. Tien shared.

Promoting the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", during 19 years of operation, Thien Tam Fund ( Vingroup ) has implemented many humanitarian volunteer programs. On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), the Fund coordinated with the Department of Home Affairs to organize a gift giving ceremony to 62 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and 192 seriously wounded soldiers (disability rate of 81% or more), with a total cost of more than 5 billion VND.

Representative of Thien Tam Fund Phung Thi My Le shared: “We hope that these gifts will bring encouragement and motivation to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and families with revolutionary contributions. This is our way of showing gratitude, continuing the ethics of "Repaying gratitude", and at the same time spreading the spirit of kindness to the community".

Promoting the tradition of "Drinking water, remember its source"

For many years, Mr. Pham Van Minh - a 2/4 disabled veteran, residing in Tan Thanh commune, has lived in an old house with a leaky roof and walls stained by time. With a small pension that is only enough for daily expenses, repairing and rebuilding the house seems beyond his ability. Thanks to the attention of the local government and the "Repaying gratitude" Fund, at the beginning of this year, Mr. Minh received 50 million VND in support to repair the house.

Mr. Minh was moved: “I used to think I would have to live in this old house for the rest of my life, but thanks to the timely support, my family now has a more decent place. I really appreciate and am grateful for this affection!”

The houses of gratitude not only help families with policies have a stable place to live but also become a meaningful spiritual support. That timely concern adds confidence, helps them feel accompanied, shared and has more motivation to rise up in life.

According to the Department of Home Affairs, the province currently has more than 143,000 people with revolutionary contributions who are enjoying policies. Among them, there are 6,850 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, 14,200 wounded and sick soldiers and nearly 41,900 martyrs and martyrs' relatives. In recent times, many practical support policies have been implemented such as hundreds of gratitude houses built, thousands of gratitude gifts given to families with meritorious services, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of people with meritorious services.

The preferential policy for people with revolutionary contributions is a major policy of the Party and State, both political and socio-economic, and deeply humane. This is a recognition and honor of the great contributions and sacrifices of previous generations, and at the same time a reminder to today's and future generations of the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", fostering a sense of responsibility, a sense of striving and dedication in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland./.
