The 10th grade public school entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City for the 2025-2026 school year took place on June 6 and 7, with 76,435 candidates registering for the exam - a decrease of more than 27,000 compared to last year.

Candidates will take the exam in three subjects: Literature, Foreign Language, and Math. Candidates wishing to enter specialized or integrated 10th grade will take the corresponding exam on the afternoon of June 7.

On the first day of the exam (June 6), according to statistics from the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, out of a total of 76,435 candidates registered for the exam, 500 candidates did not show up to take the Literature and Foreign Language exams.

Ho Chi Minh City arranged 142 examination sites (132 regular sites, 10 specialized sites) with 3,277 examination rooms. The whole industry mobilized 9,548 teachers to invigilate the exams and 1,846 support staff.

The expected exam marking time is June 8-25. The exam scores, benchmark scores and review time will be announced later by the Department of Education and Training, based on the actual marking progress and processing of results.

The 10th grade admission score is the sum of three subjects (Math, Literature, Foreign Language), plus priority and incentive points (if any). For specialized classes, the formula is the sum of the three above subjects with coefficient 1, plus the specialized subject score with coefficient 2.

Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that this year's 10th grade exam reduced the percentage of comprehension questions to 60% instead of 70-75% as in previous years. Questions requiring application increased to 40%, in line with the student assessment goals according to the 2018 General Education Program.
