Regarding the organization of teaching 2 sessions/day, the directive clearly states: The Ministry of Education and Training shall preside over and coordinate with ministries, agencies and localities to issue documents guiding the teaching of 2 sessions/day, ensuring clear purposes, clear requirements, clear objects, clear content, clear forms, methods of organization and implementation, clear results, clear competent authorities to effectively implement the general education program; organize for students to self-study, study in groups, increase practice, improve the quality of comprehensive education in terms of qualities and capacities; strengthen educational activities in culture, arts, physical education, life skills, STEM education, career education; develop English proficiency, digital competency, AI competency, personal aptitude in culture, arts... to meet the needs, interests and aspirations of students; promote socialization to improve the quality of education.

Organizing two sessions a day is one of the solutions to fundamentally and comprehensively innovate generaleducation , overcome the situation of lopsided learning, rote learning, and racing for achievements, while creating conditions for students to comprehensively develop knowledge, skills and qualities. Teacher Nguyen Thi Tam, Vice Principal of Hoang Hoa Tham Primary School (Thanh Hoa City) said: "Studying two sessions a day will help students have appropriate study time, reducing pressure in acquiring knowledge. In addition, students also have more time to participate in activities, experience, work in groups, learn life skills and have fun with friends, thereby promoting their comprehensive development".

Sharing the same opinion, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh in Dong Tho ward ( Thanh Hoa city) shared: "When children study at school all day, parents feel more secure because their children have appropriate study time, are taught additional knowledge and skills by teachers that they have not learned at home, and also reduce the pressure on parents about the time to pick up and drop off their children."

This policy is considered to be in line with the modern educational trend. However, to implement this, it needs to be done flexibly according to the actual local situation, with a clear roadmap and specific conditions. At the same time, teaching 2 sessions/day requires a flexible, reasonable schedule, a harmony between learning and experiential activities, designing a curriculum suitable for the psychological characteristics of students as well as ensuring adequate facilities and teaching staff.

Tram Anh from Dong Tho Ward (Thanh Hoa City) shared: “I hope that the afternoon classes will have more soft skills training subjects or light subjects such as IT, Fine Arts, and not repeat the main subjects of the morning. If I have studied the main subjects in the morning and continue studying in the afternoon, I will feel quite stressed and tired.”

In remote, isolated and disadvantaged areas, there are many challenges when implementing 2-session learning per day. Bat Mot Secondary School (Bat Mot Commune, Thuong Xuan District) is located in the border area, adjacent to Laos, so it faces many geographical and economic difficulties... However, most of the students studying at the school do not have a boarding system, so if they implement 2-session learning per day, they will have to go home at noon and return to school in the early afternoon. However, their homes are far from the school, so it is very difficult to implement. In addition, the school is also facing difficulties in terms of teacher resources as well as facilities to ensure that students receive comprehensive learning and education.

Teacher Le Hong Sam, Principal of Bat Mot Secondary School, said: “The school is facing some difficulties in implementing 2 sessions/day, which are difficulties in organizing teaching, facilities, teacher resources... We hope that the State will have more mechanisms to help students in especially disadvantaged areas enjoy boarding regime; increase teacher resources, especially in special subjects such as Fine Arts, Information Technology; support facilities, computers, speakers, radios... to apply in teaching subjects such as Foreign Languages, Information Technology”.

Teaching two sessions a day is an inevitable trend in the process of comprehensive educational reform, but to implement it effectively, there needs to be clear and consistent direction from management levels to each educational institution. First of all, there needs to be specific and unified guidance on organization, program content, study plan and funding sources, to avoid the situation where each place implements it differently.

Teacher Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Principal of Minh Khai Secondary School (Thanh Hoa City) said, "I completely agree with Directive No. 17 on organizing 2 sessions/day for high school students. The school is preparing plans and waiting for specific instructions to implement 2 sessions/day for students in a truly scientific and comprehensive way. In addition, the curriculum must be scientific, consistent with the educational plan of each school, ensuring harmony between learning, skill training and student character development"...

The implementation of two-session teaching is considered a step towards a practical, comprehensive and humane education. Although this journey still has many challenges ahead, it is easy to see that schools are making efforts to overcome difficulties.
