Defeating host Vietnam, Thailand won the international 7-a-side football tournament

The Thai team defeated host Vietnam to win the 2025 Bia Saigon Dragon Cup International 7-a-side Football Tournament.

On the afternoon of August 17, the Thai 7-a-side football team defeated Vietnam 5-1 in the championship match of the 2025 Bia Saigon Dragon Cup International 7-a-side Football Tournament held at Gia Dinh Stadium (Binh Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).

The Vietnamese and Thai 7-a-side football teams both beat Kampung Rawa Club (Malaysia). Due to a better goal difference (6/0 compared to 7/3), Thailand only needs to draw with the Vietnamese 7-a-side football team to win the championship.

However, Thailand defeated the Vietnamese 7-man football team 5-1 to be crowned champion in a convincing manner. The only goal for Vietnam was scored by Tuan Anh Jr.

In addition to the cup and gold medal, Thailand also received a bonus of 3,000 USD (about 80 million VND). The Vietnamese 7-a-side football team received a bonus of 2,000 USD for the runner-up position. Kampung Rawa Club, which finished third, received a bonus of 1,500 USD.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr. Pham Ngoc Tuan - General Director of VietFootball Joint Stock Company - the tournament organizer congratulated Thailand and shared about the success of the tournament.

He said: "The Vietnamese 7-a-side football team has not been able to win the championship, but this is a common victory for all of us. The tournament has left a great impression, attracting the attention of a large audience at home and abroad."

With sporting values and a spirit of solidarity, the tournament has come to a complete end, opening up expectations for the next seasons to continue spreading passion and raising the level of Vietnamese 7-a-side football on the regional and world map.

In particular, responding to the campaign to support the Cuban people launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross , the Vietnamese 7-a-side football team also made practical contributions.

Specifically, the team members donated 1,000 USD to the fund. This is a noble gesture, demonstrating the spirit of friendship and solidarity of the Vietnamese people with their traditional friend Cuba.
