According to Reuters, around midnight on June 10 (local time), representatives of the US and Chinese trade negotiation delegations jointly announced the completion of two days of intense negotiations in London (UK).
Positive results
US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Chinese Vice Commerce Minister Li Chenggang both confirmed that the two sides have reached a "framework" agreement to implement the results of the phone call between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping on June 5, as well as the round of negotiations in Geneva (Switzerland) on May 11.
"The world's two largest economies have reached a handshake for a new framework. We will implement it after President Trump approves it. The phone call between Mr. Trump and Mr. Xi changed the outcome," Mr. Lutnick shared.
The US Secretary stressed that the foundation for the new framework is to increase US-China trade.
"The framework is just the first step. We still have to address negative issues. We expect that rare earth and magnet issues will be addressed through this framework," Mr. Lutnik emphasized.
US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer also expressed "optimism about working with China" and affirmed that Washington is "moving as quickly as possible" and "continually communicating" with Beijing.
China also made positive statements. Mr. Li Chenggang said: "Basically, the two sides have reached a framework to implement the consensus reached in the phone call on June 5 and in Geneva."
Mr. Li hopes that the progress can "boost trust" and "inject positive energy into world economic development." He also described the communication between the two sides as "professional, rational, in-depth and candid."
Neither side has yet made public details of the newly agreed framework.

The move marks a positive development in the volatile trade war between the world's two largest economies, which has escalated in recent weeks after an earlier period of reconciliation.
In Geneva and during the Trump-Xi phone call, the two leaders pledged to reduce tariffs. Beijing also promised to speed up the issuance of export permits for key minerals during the next round of negotiations.
The restoration of the above results opens up hope of restoring the trade truce and easing tensions between the world's two largest economies.
This round of trade negotiations in London lasted for two days, June 9 and 10. The negotiations were described as tense, taking place throughout the entire day of June 9 and an additional half day of June 10.
Initially, the head of the US negotiating delegation was Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. But then Mr. Bessent returned home because of other work.
At one point, the negotiations threatened to go into a third day, but the two delegations managed to reach an agreement before the end of June 10.
