On June 17, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Nong province coordinated with the People's Committee of Krong No district to organize the Agricultural Extension Forum @ Agriculture.

The forum has the theme: "Solutions for developing smart coffee to adapt to climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Dak Nong province".
Representatives of leaders of departments, branches, enterprises, cooperatives, experts and more than 160 farmers in Krong No district attended the forum.
Coffee is one of the main crops, playing an important role in the socio -economic development of Dak Nong province.
Currently, Dak Nong has over 144,000 hectares of coffee, accounting for more than 35% of the total agricultural land area, with an output of over 273,000 tons/year.

Coffee contributes to increasing income for tens of thousands of farming households and is a key export product, making a major contribution to the provincial economy.
However, in the context of increasingly complex climate change, along with increasing requirements for sustainable agricultural development, coffee production in Dak Nong is facing many challenges.

Major challenges such as extreme weather, drought, increased pests and diseases, scarce water resources, pressure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the production value chain... are increasingly evident.
Faced with that situation, converting traditional farming methods to smart coffee models, applying technical advances, digital technology, effective and environmentally friendly farming management is an inevitable direction.

At the forum, representatives of functional agencies and the agricultural sector informed about the province's policies on sustainable and smart agricultural production and coffee production.
Current solutions related to coffee production that meets international standards and certifications to enhance the value of the coffee industry are analyzed and evaluated in depth.

Many farmers expressed their opinions on issues such as the need for the State to strengthen the management of seed quality in replanting, build more irrigation system models suitable for fertilizers, and control fertilizer quality.
Speaking at the forum, Mr. Ngo Xuan Dong, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Nong province, said that the forum is an opportunity to help farmers access research results and new technical advances in varieties, effective farming and processing techniques, and meet technical and trade barriers such as those for EUDR.
