On the morning of July 5, at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense , General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense received General Songwit Noonpackdee, Commander of the Thai Defense Forces on the occasion of his official visit to Vietnam.
Attending the reception were Senior Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

Speaking at the meeting, General Phan Van Giang emphasized that the upgrading of the relationship between the two countries to a comprehensive strategic partnership in May 2025 is a historic milestone, opening a new chapter in bilateral relations; affirming that Vietnam always attaches importance to continuously strengthening the good friendship and cooperation with Thailand.

The Minister highly appreciated the results of the talks between the Commander and General Nguyen Tan Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense; and acknowledged the positive results of Vietnam - Thailand defense cooperation in recent times, as well as the proactiveness and positivity of Thailand in general, the Ministry of National Defense and the Royal Thai Army in particular in promoting multilateral cooperation, especially within the ASEAN framework.
General Phan Van Giang suggested that the two countries' armies should actively carry out activities to enhance mutual understanding and trust, focusing on consultation, strategic exchange, and delegation exchanges at all levels; continue to improve the effectiveness of cooperation between the armies and services; and promote cooperation in potential areas, in line with the needs and strengths of each side.

The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense supports extensive cooperation between the two countries ' armies ; hopes that both sides will strengthen cooperation more effectively, contributing to building and consolidating each country's defense, making practical contributions to the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand.
At the reception, General Songwit Noonpackdee expressed his delight at the well-developed cooperation between the two countries in the defense sector, which is a pillar of the Thailand-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership.

Expressing his impression of Vietnam 's development achievements, General Songwit Noonpackdee believes that the historic reform of converting the two-tier local government model that is being implemented will help Vietnam continue to achieve more achievements in the coming time.
