Due to the influence of storm No. 1, on the morning of June 14, the tide at Cua Lo beach receded but the waves were very large and strong currents with whirlpools appeared. Many people swimming in the sea this morning suddenly drowned in deep pools.
Up to this point, the Vinh City Search and Rescue and Disaster Prevention Center and local residents have successfully rescued more than 20 drowning swimmers at Cua Lo beach this morning, informed Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Director of this center.
In 3 locations alone, 5 people drowned at the same time. The remaining drowning cases were scattered throughout Cua Lo beach.
Also according to Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, thanks to closely monitoring the weather, in recent days, the Vinh City Search and Rescue and Disaster Prevention Center has mobilized the maximum force on duty along the beach, so they have promptly detected and successfully rescued drowning cases with the people. Currently, there is one serious case that has to be hospitalized for emergency treatment, but his life is no longer in danger.
Mr. Phan Hong Quan, (residing in Vinh City), who participated in successfully rescuing a drowning case at Cua Lo beach, said that this morning, Cua Lo sea was rough, big waves, but many people risked going far away when swimming.
Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Director of the Center for Search and Rescue and Natural Disaster Prevention of Vinh City, recommends that on days with rough seas and big waves, tourists are asked not to participate in swimming or organizing recreational activities on the beach, and to strictly follow the warnings and reminders of the rescue team.
