Industry flourishes in many high growth areas

Industrial production activities in the province in July continued to record positive signals, the Industrial Production Index (IIP) of the whole industry increased by 10.72% compared to the previous month and increased by 6.27% compared to the same period last year, in which most key sectors had encouraging growth.

Processing and manufacturing industry increased strongly in 7 months.

The internal industry structure has shifted in a positive direction, increasing the proportion of processing and manufacturing industries and gradually reducing the proportion of mining industries. Focusing on developing deep mineral processing industries and supporting industries, paying attention to applying modern and advanced technologies in production to improve quality and protect the environment.

Wood processing and wood product manufacturing industry increased by more than 11%.

Specifically, in July, the processing and manufacturing industry increased sharply by 21.25%, leading to breakthrough growth in many sub-sectors: garment production increased by 28.74%; wood processing and production of products from wood, bamboo and rattan increased by 11.15%; paper and paper products increased by 16.79%; chemical production and chemical products increased by 27.56%; rubber and plastic products increased by 31.17%; metal products increased by 89.54%; prefabricated metal products increased by 80.8%...

In the first 7 months of 2025, IIP in the province is estimated to increase by 6.73% over the same period, of which the processing and manufacturing industry is the main contributor with an increase of 12.4%, providing more than 6.7 percentage points to the overall increase; the electricity production and distribution industry increased by 2.43%, contributing 0.6 percentage points; the water supply and wastewater and waste treatment industry increased by 6.09%, contributing 0.11 points.

The recovery of the industry comes not only from the recovery of market demand but also from the support of the provincial government in removing difficulties and obstacles in terms of land, infrastructure and human resources.

In particular, after the merger, Lao Cai has more conditions to re-plan industrial development space more effectively, exploit local potential and connect inter-regional infrastructure, creating momentum for local industry in the new period, contributing positively to the completion of the 2025 socio -economic development plan in the province.
