The movie "Close the deal!" uses AI (artificial intelligence) technology to replace actress Thuy Tien - the actress who was temporarily detained since mid-May 2025 to investigate the crime of defrauding customers.
The film became the center of attention after the film crew's press conference on August 4, an unprecedented case in Vietnamese cinema.
Because it has not been officially released, in some Facebook posts, a part of the audience expressed disagreement with the application of AI to cinema in general. Some, after watching the excerpts spread on social networks, said that the "AI actor" created a fake feeling, like a cartoon character.
However, there are also some others who think this is an unavoidable situation and sympathize. Some viewers commented that this is “too expensive a price to pay for a mistake that does not belong to the film crew.”

During the film's premiere on the evening of August 4 in Ho Chi Minh City, the crew shared that using AI to process images also increased costs.
Referring to the incident involving actress Thuy Tien, co-director Bao Nhan called “Closing the deal!” the most difficult project of his career. “Like the characters in the film, our crew also had to overcome many difficulties to maintain an optimistic and creative spirit,” he said.
Co-director Namcito shared that the film crew was in crisis and lost morale. Regarding the use of AI to act as the actress’s stand-in, he said: “AI is not a temporary solution, but a serious investment decision to preserve the emotions of the work.”

The film “Close the deal!” stars actors such as Quyen Linh, Hong Dao, Hong Van… The film is a comedy, with themes of modern society and family. According to the distributor, the film not only revolves around bustling online sales, but also lessons about life values and family values.
Previously on May 19, Thuy Tien was prosecuted and temporarily detained to investigate the act of deceiving customers, related to Kera vegetable candy products.
The incident resulted in movie promotion websites, movie schedules, fanpages, and many other platforms… hiding, deleting information about the movie, or stopping posting. Movie screenings were almost suspended, with screenings postponed indefinitely.
July 29, film crew suddenly announced her comeback after a period of hiatus. The crew said they would replace the main role played by Thuy Tien but did not say who the actress was, only writing on the poster "WHO WILL REPLACE THE FEMALE LEAD TO "CLOSING THE ORDER!" TO RETURN?"/.
