A journey to be proud of
After the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board was established and put into operation for 5 years, with the inevitable need for a specific trade union level in industrial zones, in April 2012, the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union was born.
In the early days, in the context of Nghe An province's industrial parks having few enterprises and small scale, trade union activities were full of difficulties, because everyone was still confused to find a direction suitable to the characteristics of the industrial park.
Realizing its role, the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union has constantly innovated its methods, boldly applied many breakthrough and creative activities aimed directly at the practical interests of workers. With the motto of "putting the interests of union members first", the Trade Union focuses on performing well the function of representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers and laborers. Through activities of supervising the implementation of labor laws and collective bargaining, the Trade Union has proactively participated in protecting the rights of wages, bonuses, working hours, rest as well as ensuring occupational safety and hygiene for workers.
In addition, the Union also pays special attention to the material and spiritual life of workers. Meaningful programs such as "Tet Sum vay", "Union meal", "Summer cooling" ... have been organized regularly, bringing joy and great encouragement to each worker. For the "Tet Sum vay" program alone, the Unions at all levels in the economic zone have spent more than 14.5 billion VND, of which, the Dong Nam Economic Zone Union alone contributed 1.8 billion VND to take care of Tet for workers.
For young workers, the “brand” of the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union is associated with programs such as “Young Dance”, “Green Fashion ”, Southeast Economic Zone Sports Tournament and Nghe An Industrial Parks… These are programs with great influence, loved and awaited by workers and laborers because of their professionalism, meticulousness, creativity and youthfulness from content to form. It is also in these programs that workers are honored and show their talents, connected and together cultivate class pride.
With those efforts, from the initial modest number of 12 grassroots unions and 2,000 union members, the Southeast Economic Zone Union has now grown to 82 grassroots unions, managing more than 46,000 union members. In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, the unit has established 6 new grassroots unions and admitted 9,351 more union members. This demonstrates the increasing attraction and prestige of the Union organization in the hearts of workers.
Not stopping there, the Union also makes a practical contribution to building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations, helping workers feel secure in their long-term commitment to the enterprise. Thanks to that, it not only helps maintain stable production and business, but also makes an important contribution to ensuring worker security, maintaining the sustainable development of the Southeast Economic Zone.
Nguyen To Long - Deputy Head of the Management Board of the Southeast Economic Zone of Nghe An, affirmed: In 13 years of establishment and development, the Trade Union of the Southeast Economic Zone has had many innovations and differences in implementing activities, suitable for the specific characteristics of enterprises in industrial zones. At the Management Board, the Trade Union officials of the Southeast Economic Zone also had many opinions to advise on maintaining good labor relations, contributing significantly to promoting the socio-economic development of the province.
Mr. Le Khanh Minh - Chairman of the Trade Union of Luxshare ICT Nghe An Co., Ltd. said: “Luxshare Group in Nghe An has a scale of 24,000 employees. We have received support from the Trade Union of the Southeast Economic Zone in training, improving the quality of grassroots trade union officials, providing labor law advice, providing welfare programs for union members, conveying the thoughts and aspirations of union members and workers to authorities at all levels... In which, the most obvious role is in resolving labor disputes. The Trade Union of the Economic Zone is not only solid in law, understands the law, and can use foreign languages, but also has extremely good negotiation skills. Collective work stoppages at our company have all been resolved quickly in one session thanks to the support of the Trade Union of the Southeast Economic Zone”.
Looking forward to the new journey
In the context of promoting administrative reform and streamlining the apparatus, the Vietnamese political system is witnessing strong movements, including the Trade Union organization. The policy of streamlining the Trade Union apparatus is implemented with the aim of overcoming shortcomings, shortcomings, and limitations in the organizational system and operations of Trade Unions at all levels, towards a streamlined apparatus that operates effectively and efficiently, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation. This is consistent with the Party's policy in Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW dated October 25, 2017 of the 12th Party Central Committee on "Some issues on continuing to innovate and reorganize the apparatus of the political system to be streamlined, operate effectively and efficiently" and
According to the Project, the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union is one of four industry-level units that will "end operations", 80 grassroots Trade Unions, with 45,807 union members of the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union will be transferred to the Provincial Federation of Labor for direct management. This is both an opportunity and a challenge for the Nghe An Trade Union in the coming time.
Mr. Pan Dong Hua - Human Resources Director of Everwin Precision Technology Co., Ltd. (Vietnam) shared: Right from the time our company was first established with the first 50 workers and laborers, until now, when the company has nearly 1,300 union members, the Dong Nam Economic Zone Union has directed the grassroots Union to coordinate with the enterprise to focus on caring for and improving the material and spiritual life of workers, always directly supporting the enterprise in supervising the implementation of the law and consulting for the enterprise, perfecting labor management, contributing significantly to resolving harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations. After the streamlining, we hope to continue to receive such attention and companionship from Nghe An Union.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Nguyen Phuong Nam (Woosin Vina Co., Ltd.) shared: “Not only our enterprise but all enterprises in the industrial park will expand their scale and recruit more workers in the coming time. The enterprise leadership team are all highly qualified people, with strict requirements, requiring that the Union activities in enterprises and industrial parks need their own characteristics, the Union staff must be dedicated, dedicated, experienced, have good negotiation and dialogue skills and understand labor laws... After the streamlining, I hope that Nghe An Trade Union will still ensure these things to maintain its position in the new challenging context, possibly having to compete with other independent Trade Union organizations”.
