(NLDO) – Heavy rain during rush hour caused traffic jams on the roads around Tan Son Nhat airport. The traffic inched forward, causing chaos.

On the afternoon of January 14, after a heavy rain that lasted for more than an hour, traffic on the roads around Tan Son Nhat airport such as Bach Dang, Tran Quoc Hoan, Hoang Van Thu, Truong Son and the Lang Cha Ca roundabout area fell into a state of serious congestion. The flow of vehicles inched forward during rush hour, causing many difficulties for traffic participants.

On Truong Son Street, from Hau Giang intersection to Phan Thuc Duyen intersection, there was a long line of cars and motorbikes. Although the congestion lasted for a long time and there were no motorbikes climbing the curb, moving around was still extremely difficult. Mr. Van Minh, a taxi driver, shared: “Just one rainstorm and the road was partially congested, with a lot of vehicles. Every time it rained during rush hour, it took me nearly an hour to get out of the airport area, while on normal days it only took 15 minutes.”

Similarly, Tran Quoc Hoan Street also fell into a prolonged traffic jam, connecting to the Lang Cha Ca roundabout area. Here, the traffic situation was chaotic, the stream of vehicles stretched all the way to Hoang Van Thu Street. People tried to squeeze through the gaps to escape the congestion.

Ms. Le Thi Hang, an office worker, expressed her fatigue: “It usually only takes me 30 minutes to go from District 3 to Go Vap, but today it took me more than an hour to get out of the roundabout. Every time it rains, there are a lot of cars and traffic jams, making me worried about being late to pick up my children.”

In the Hoang Van Thu street area, motorbikes weaved between cars, while the Cong Hoa – Hoang Van Thu overpass saw many cars standing still.

Traffic police were present early at Lang Cha Ca roundabout to regulate traffic, but the heavy traffic density made it difficult to clear the traffic.
