Job opportunities for workers

According to the Department of Home Affairs of Can Tho City, in the first 6 months of 2025, applying solutions, the city had over 39,000 employed workers, reaching nearly 77% of the plan, an increase of over 14% over the same period in 2024. Sectors, functional units and localities made efforts to provide counseling, career guidance, and job introduction, contributing to further improving the quality and efficiency of job placement (GQVL) in the city.

Facilitate access to employment

With its assigned functions and tasks, the City Employment Service Center (DVVL) is interested in innovating and diversifying job introduction activities (GTVL), bringing many job opportunities to students and workers (NLĐ). Since the beginning of the year, through social networks: Facebook, Zalo, YouTube, Tiktok, consulting events, job transactions, the Center has integrated consulting, career guidance, helping workers prepare the best mentality and demeanor, creating an image with employers when applying. The Center has provided domestic and international employment for 8,981 people, and provided domestic and international labor for 1,419 people. Nguyen Huy Bao, a second-year student majoring in Information Technology at Can Tho Vocational College, said: “I participate in career fairs at schools and career service centers and am more confident in approaching and talking to businesses. I collect career guidance and recruitment information to choose a suitable job after graduation.”

Since the beginning of the year, the City Social Policy Bank Branch has disbursed over VND848.3 billion in loans to 14,695 households, including 8,725 workers who have borrowed capital to create jobs, maintain and expand their jobs. Thereby, workers have proactively built production models, participated in cooperatives, professional groups, and production linkage groups, stabilized jobs, income, and developed family economy .

Districts have played a good role in connecting businesses and mobilizing workers to find suitable jobs. According to the Department of Home Affairs of Thoi Lai district, since the beginning of the year, the whole district has had 2,937 new workers recruited for employment, reaching over 94% of the plan; 36 workers went to work in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. At the same time, information on domestic and foreign labor recruitment, with a variety of occupations and suitable conditions, is quickly transmitted to communes and towns so that workers in need can easily access and choose. Mr. Ngo Tau, Deputy Head of the Department of Home Affairs of Cai Rang district, said that in the first 6 months of 2025, the district recruited 1,768 workers, of which 30 went to work in other countries, reaching nearly 59% of the plan. The district coordinates with sectors and wards to promote propaganda and job counseling for workers, especially mobilizing young workers to participate in counseling and recruitment events to work abroad; the Social Policy Bank supports workers in completing documents and procedures to borrow preferential loans to work in Japan.

Improve skills, seize opportunities

In the process of implementing the GQVL work, the City Department of Home Affairs has strengthened the linkage model and promoted the advantages of 3 parties: schools - enterprises - Vocational Service Centers in the GQVL work, solving the problem of human resources, helping enterprises select suitable labor sources. In recruitment, most enterprises set high requirements and screen quite strictly, workers equip themselves with knowledge, improve skills to adapt and seize job opportunities. The industry, functional organizations at all levels coordinate to organize many GTVL events, invite and connect domestic and foreign labor recruitment enterprises to participate in direct consultation and preliminary selection. Mr. Dao Nguyen Duc Hieu, recruitment and training specialist of Dat Xanh Mien Tay Service Joint Stock Company, said: “The company is recruiting 201 employees for the following positions: sales staff, product exploitation specialists, and sales interns. Employees do not need to have experience, the company will train them from basic to advanced skills so that they can supplement them appropriately for each job position”. Mr. Truong Nhat Tai, Deputy Director of Hasu Asia Co., Ltd., Ho Chi Minh City, said: “The Japanese labor market prioritizes recruiting Vietnamese workers, including Can Tho workers, because they are diligent, hard-working, and learn Japanese and vocational skills very quickly. Employees need to make efforts, be determined, and choose a career that suits their conditions, to be sure to stand firm and succeed when working in Japan”.

According to the City Department of Home Affairs, in the coming time, the Department will advise the City People's Committee to issue and implement the Project on training, retraining and consulting, and providing employment services for cadres, civil servants, public employees, and redundant workers due to the arrangement, streamlining of the organizational apparatus and arrangement of administrative units of Can Tho City in the period of 2025-2030 and sign a cooperation agreement on sending and receiving seasonal workers to work in Korea; effectively coordinate the implementation of support for workers to work abroad according to Resolution No. 11/2023/NQ-HDND. At the same time, direct the City Employment Service Center to coordinate in promoting, innovating, and diversifying job consulting activities, labor market information, and skills orientation, in accordance with the practical needs of enterprises; Proactively update information and effectively exploit labor supply and demand software, build a database of laborers, job seekers and job seekers; promote the application of information technology, improve the ability to quickly connect laborers and enterprises. At the same time, continue to strengthen 3-party coordination, create a solid human resource supply network, closely following labor market requirements. In addition, communes and wards promote propaganda, mobilization, strongly promote the role of "bridge", bringing many job opportunities and stable income for laborers.
