With the desire to bring the beauty of her homeland closer to art lovers, in 2014, Ms. Tran Thi Hien Triet decided to learn how to make rice paintings. The first paintings were simply arranging rice into calligraphy characters written by her mother. Thanks to her perseverance, her skills gradually improved, her products had a variety of themes, and were well received by many customers.
"My mother is a calligrapher, so she passed on her passion for painting to me. About 11 years ago, with my love for the rice grains of my hometown, I started learning how to make rice paintings. When the products were completed and many friends ordered them, I thought about starting a business with this type of painting," said Ms. Triet.

At first, Ms. Triet made simple paintings with images of her homeland, country, countryside, calligraphy and mainly handmade. Later, the demand of customers increased, especially foreign businesses and tourists, so she researched and improved to make more digital rice paintings, colored rice paintings. To introduce the beautiful scenery and unique cultural beauty of Can Tho to tourists, Ms. Triet made paintings of Can Tho bridge, walking street, Hung Vuong temple...
As Secretary of the Youth Union of the Southern College of Electricity and Agriculture , Ms. Triet advises the Board of Directors to organize exchange programs, inspire students to start businesses ; coordinate to support students with ideas and start-up products to participate in start-up festivals, exchange programs, exhibitions; organize visits to economic models, start-ups... At the same time, she teaches painting, creating jobs for a number of students.

Tran Anh Nguyet, a 12th grade student at the Center for Vocational Education and Continuing Education in O Mon District (Can Tho City), said: "When she learned that I liked making rice paintings, Ms. Triet spent time teaching me 4 sessions. After school, I go to her facility to make paintings or bring them home to do. With the salary of about 1 million VND/month, I have extra money to cover my daily living expenses and go to school."
Ms. Triet's rice paintings are priced from 175,000 - 2.2 million VND/painting, depending on the sophistication, material... Each month, she sells more than 50 paintings. Up to now, this job has helped her earn an additional income of nearly 20 million VND/month. To expand the market, she put rice paintings on e-commerce platforms. In the near future, she will innovate her family's startup model by trading in painting materials, combining painting making instructions to bring rice paintings closer to everyone.
