Tourists visit Tu Duc tomb on September 2. |
Being a holiday and free of admission, of course, it is an occasion when Hue 's relic sites welcome a lot of tourists and people to visit and experience. For many people, including me, the relic sites are no longer too strange, nor are they "trendy", but they still want to leave the house and flock to the destinations to join the flow of people visiting the relics. Going is not only for the purpose of admiring, but also for observing, being happy and proud when seeing the heritage of our ancestors being loved and respected by future generations, especially among them, the majority of whom are young people.
One time, when I was with a friend, I blurted out my feelings. Unexpectedly, my friend just smiled and looked very… hateful. When pressed, my friend slowly said: Don't be too happy, look around, do you see anything strange? Feeling a little guilty, I carefully glanced around a few times, but didn't see anything unusual. What's so strange about it? - I said. No? So don't you see that everyone, every house is only focused on posing and checking in? They don't care about or learn about relics and heritage?
A few souvenir photos with the monument are irresistible. |
I looked around again, it was true. But that was normal - I thought. Going there without checking in, without taking pictures would be strange. Because Hue's relics are so beautiful, not only in the intact or restored buildings, but even an old mossy wall, or an arched gate that is still in a state of collapse... when photographed, they all captivate people. So why not take a picture? I told my friend my thoughts, but it seemed I did not receive any agreement. He said, visiting a heritage like that is... such a waste of the heritage. Visiting without learning, without pondering, what do you understand, what do you know about the heritage? Just keep "sliding" on the surface like that, and the heritage will eventually become just like any other ordinary landscape. How can we absorb, how can we pass on the preciousness, the beauty, the value of our ancestors' heritage to our friends, to future generations...
And still many people are interested in finding information about the monument. |
He did it all at once, making my ears ring. Feeling quite tense, I invited him to a coffee shop to cool off. Then… “blowing”, that his opinion, his wish was completely reasonable. But people, especially young people, demanding right away is probably difficult. Perhaps we should “open our hearts”. First of all, we must thank them because it is partly thanks to their photos that Hue, Hue’s heritage is spread. More or less, through that, they have transmitted their love for Hue to others. As for themselves, there must be passion, love for them to flock to the relics, to check-in so enthusiastically. Then at some point, sitting and looking at those photos again, who knows, they might suddenly ask, why is this relic like that, this artifact like that… and from there they will read, look, ask and understand, will increase their love for the heritage. Let’s hope so and there will certainly be many cases like that. Like you, like me, if you think about it, didn’t we also have a more or less “similar” start? So rest assured, if you check-in, you have… prospects. I encouraged you and saw your face seemed to relax. Suddenly you laughed heartily, looking happy: Let’s go home, let’s have a beer to celebrate the big holiday!
