The Cong Club recruits Lucao

(PLVN) - The Cong Club has recruited the top scorer of V.League 2024/25 from Hai Phong.

Brazilian striker Lucas Vinicius (Lucao do Break) will play for the army team from the 2025/26 season, bringing with him great expectations for his scoring performance in attack.

On June 24, before the National Cup semi-final, The Cong - Viettel officially announced the successful recruitment of Lucao. The Brazilian striker has played for nearly 5 years in the V.League for Hanoi FC, Da Nang FC and most recently Hai Phong FC.

With a height of 1m84 and an ideal physique, the striker born in 1991 has the ability to press, fight in the air and shoot diversely in the penalty area. In the 2024/25 season, Lucao was one of the 3 players leading the scoring list in the V.League with 14 goals - contributing 48% of the total goals of Hai Phong Club (29 goals).

Sharing on the day of signing the contract, Lucao said: “I am very honored to wear the shirt of a club with a rich tradition like The Cong. This is a team with a strong fighting spirit, a thirst for victory and always receives enthusiastic support from fans. I came here to dedicate myself, score goals and most importantly, conquer titles with the whole team.”

Meanwhile, The Cong coach Velizar Popov said Lucao is the piece the army team has been waiting for: “We need a striker who can take advantage of opportunities, put pressure on the opponent’s defense and has experience in the V.League. Lucao meets all those factors. He not only has the ability to score goals but also plays well as a team player, knows how to coordinate and has good tactical thinking. I believe Lucao will help us solve the problem of finishing and open up many new attacking options.”

At the end of the 2024/25 V.League season, The Cong Club ranked 4th with 44 points.
