New Chairmen of Provincial and Municipal People's Committees after the merger

1. Lao Cai Province (new)

The Prime Minister signed a decision appointing Mr. Tran Huy Tuan, Deputy Secretary of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee (new) for the 2020-2025 term, to hold the position of Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee (new) for the 2021-2026 term.

The new Lao Cai province was formed on the basis of merging Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces, the new administrative center is located in Lao Cai.

2. Tuyen Quang Province (new)

Mr. Phan Huy Ngoc, Deputy Secretary of Tuyen Quang Provincial Party Committee (new) for the 2020 - 2025 term, holds the position of Chairman of the new Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee (term 2021 - 2026).

The new Tuyen Quang province was formed on the basis of merging Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang provinces, the new administrative center is located in Tuyen Quang.

3. Thai Nguyen Province (new)

Mr. Pham Hoang Son, Deputy Secretary of Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee (new) for the 2020 - 2025 term, holds the position of Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee (new) for the 2021 - 2026 term.

The new Thai Nguyen province was formed on the basis of merging Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan provinces, with the new administrative center located in Thai Nguyen.

4. Bac Ninh Province (new)

Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan, Deputy Secretary of Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee (new) for the 2020 - 2025 term, holds the position of Chairman of Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee (new) for the 2021 - 2026 term.

The new Bac Ninh province was formed on the basis of merging Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces, with the new administrative center located in Bac Giang.

5. Ninh Binh Province (new)

The new Ninh Binh province was established on the basis of merging Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh and Ha Nam, with the new administrative center in Ninh Binh.

The new Hai Phong City was established on the basis of merging Hai Phong City and Hai Duong province, with the administrative center located in Hai Phong.

17. Can Tho City (new)

The new Can Tho was merged from Can Tho, Soc Trang and Hau Giang. The new political and administrative center is located in Can Tho.

18. An Giang Province (new)

An Giang was newly merged from An Giang and Kien Giang provinces. The new administrative political center is located in Kien Giang.

19. Vinh Long Province (new)

20. Ca Mau Province (new)

21. Cao Bang Province

In Decision No. 1259/QD-TTg, the Prime Minister approved the election results for the position of Chairman of the Cao Bang Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term for Mr. Le Hai Hoa, Deputy Secretary of the Cao Bang Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term. This Decision takes effect from the date of signing and promulgation on June 24.

At the same time, the Prime Minister approved the dismissal of Mr. Hoang Xuan Anh from the position of Chairman of the Cao Bang Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term for early retirement. This decision takes effect from the date of signing (June 24, 2025).

22. Phu Tho Province (new)

The Prime Minister appointed Mr. Tran Duy Dong, Deputy Secretary of Phu Tho Provincial Party Committee (new) for the 2020 - 2025 term, to hold the position of Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee (new) for the 2021 - 2026 term.
