Captain Nguyen Trong Thien, Deputy Head of the Le Thanh International Border Control Station, said: The number of visitors entering and exiting the country is mainly people living near the border area between Gia Lai and Ratanakiri provinces and workers of Vietnamese enterprises implementing economic projects on industrial tree planting in Cambodia. The main documents for entry and exit are passports and border passes.
For means of transporting exported goods, mainly belonging to companies in Gia Lai province, they transport consumer goods, fertilizers, pesticides, machinery, and electric energy; imports are mainly seasonal agricultural products such as cassava slices, raw cashew nuts, peanuts, soybeans, bananas, mangoes, etc.
In recent times, to improve the effectiveness of border gate management and facilitate the smooth movement of businesses and people on both sides of the border, Le Thanh International Border Gate Border Guard Station has actively implemented electronic border procedures and applied information technology to the settlement of administrative procedures.
Lieutenant Colonel Do Nhu Kien - Head of Le Thanh International Border Guard Station - informed: "In recent years, the unit has been interested in investing in equipment to control the border gate, including typical computer systems, passport checking machines, passport readers, visa printers and other specialized equipment to serve the work of controlling the border gate.
In addition, to meet the requirements of the tasks in the new situation, the unit has also actively transformed digitally, reformed administrative procedures, applied information technology, especially trained to improve the professional, technical and vocational qualifications of officers directly working at the border gate, thereby proficiently using and effectively promoting the role of equipment in the process of controlling the border gate."
In addition, to meet the requirements of border gate management and border protection tasks in the new situation and keep up with the digitalization trend, Le Thanh International Border Gate Border Guard Station promotes the implementation of administrative procedure reform in the direction of synchronous connection with the national border gate system so that people and businesses can declare and receive results of administrative procedure settlement through the National Electronic Information Portal, eliminating the need to settle paper documents.
At that time, except for some specific procedures, people and businesses can make declarations and receive results at any location with internet access, shortening the time to process immigration and import-export procedures for people, vehicles and goods.
“To ensure the good performance of assigned tasks, in the coming time, the unit will actively coordinate with functional agencies to survey infrastructure to build an automatic border gate system, including a system of machines, surveillance cameras to recognize license plates, an automatic system of checking by fingerprints and images, thereby simplifying administrative procedures and shortening the time for passengers from 5 minutes to 1 minute and reducing the time for import and export procedures for goods from 5 minutes to 2 minutes” - Head of the Le Thanh International Border Gate Border Guard Station added.
The application of information technology has shown practical effectiveness in the management of immigration and import-export at Le Thanh International Border Gate. Therefore, when successfully applying digital transformation to handle administrative procedures, building a "Smart Border Gate" will contribute to further improving the efficiency of border gate management and shortening the time for passengers to complete procedures.
In addition, it stores passenger data and images to serve professional work and improve the effectiveness of fighting and preventing criminal activities and law violations at the border gate.
