Chum Show - message of love

After the success of the Dream Puppetry play in 2023, up to now, Do Theater continues to stage Chum Show to meet the needs of art enjoyment of people and tourists. With a duration of nearly 40 minutes, Chum Show brings a new cultural product, exploiting the identity and characteristics of the people and land of Khanh Hoa. There, there is the historical and cultural depth of the Cham people; the flexibility and sophistication in Kinh culture; and the liberal and resilient spirit of the ethnic groups in the Central Highlands. Through the performances of aerial circus art, combined with unique and impressive music and choreography, the audience can live in the emotions of harmony between the past and the present, between themselves and everyone, between the earth and the sky. “ Chum Show was born as a crystallization without haste or stereotype. The working method of the crew is not to create perfect artists, but to create a space where human emotions are expressed. Through the program, we want to send to everyone an artistic kiss that symbolizes love, gentleness and contains endogenous strength”, Ms. Ngo Thanh Phuong - General Director of Chum Show shared.

Coming to Chum Show , the audience will enjoy and immerse themselves in 3 scenes with the following themes: Mythology; sacred connection between gods and humans; cultural continuity and sending good things. Through sound and light effects, the audience is led into the atmosphere of the story of Bai Tien - a gathering place of beautiful fairies passed down from folklore. This is also a good land with natural beauty along with traditional culture. Throughout the story with folk colors are images of jars - familiar objects, close to the daily life and beliefs of Vietnamese people. The jars have a shape that represents motherhood associated with the cycle of birth - death - rebirth. The harmonious combination of Cham, Ede, J'Rai, Kinh folk dances with the art of flying and silk swinging in the air further increases the attractiveness of the program.

The initial ideas for Chum Show were formed more than 6 months ago and the program's creators have made efforts from choosing actors, designing the stage, props, using effects, and stage techniques with a lot of creativity. If watching Chum Show many times, the audience will see innovation and development with its own beats. Each artist is encouraged to explore from their own life experiences and become co-creators of the program. In particular, the majority of the actors are ethnic minorities who combine with professional artists to create a multi-layered, multi-material, and multi-dimensional work of art. “After watching Chum Show , my family members and I all shared the same feeling that the program had good artistic quality, good content, and creative performance style. The program time was suitable for tourists , and the ticket price from 250,000 to 350,000 VND also made it easy for locals to access and watch Chum Show,” said Ms. Le Giang (Northern Nha Trang Ward).

With creative efforts, That Theater is gradually forming its brand and becoming a familiar destination for tourists when coming to Khanh Hoa . Through the two art programs Dream Puppetry and Chum Show , the audience appreciates the awareness and responsibility of the artists here who have always tried to exploit the traditional cultural colors of the locality and tried to express them in the most impressive way.
