Preparing human resources for the second facility of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital

(Chinhphu.vn) – Viet Duc Friendship Hospital has carefully prepared the main human resource framework to transfer to the second facility in Ha Nam. They can deploy the work well by the end of this year.

Dr. Duong Duc Hung said that with a designed scale of 1,000 beds at the second facility of the Hospital in Ha Nam , the expected number of workers in the medical sector needed is about 2,000 people.

However, medical human resources are very specific, highly specialized and directly related to human life.

"Not everyone who graduates from medical school can start working and perform surgery right away. A doctor cannot start working right after finishing university. They must continue to receive additional professional training before they can practice. A nurse who wants to assist in anesthesia must study for another 9 months even though they already have a professional degree...", the leader of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital shared frankly.

Therefore, in order to prepare human resources for the second facility of the Hospital in Ha Nam, Mr. Hung said that this process did not just start, but 6-7 years ago, the previous generations of leaders of the Hospital such as Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Tien Quyet, Professor, Dr. Tran Binh Giang had a long-term vision with a plan to recruit and train a team of doctors and nurses for the new facility.

Therefore, the personnel for facility 2 - the most difficult factor, has been prepared by Viet Duc Friendship Hospital many years in advance.

The hospital has more than 60 doctors selected from previous years, working at the first facility. They are the "core" of the human resources that the hospital has carefully prepared to bring to the second facility to immediately deploy the work.

The hospital has also built a leadership framework, made plans to continue recruiting, and organized training in a systematic manner.

Ensure the quality of facility 2 is the same as facility 1

According to the Director of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, the hospital has reported to the Government to deploy the second facility in stages. The reason is that if the scale of 1,000 beds is deployed immediately, it will not be able to "fill" the patients, causing a waste of resources.

Therefore, according to the plan, in the first phase, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital 2 will operate at 30% capacity - that is, a scale of about 300 beds. This is a "doing and adjusting" phase, ensuring that each step is solid, closely linked to treatment reality and effective operation.

Also during this time, the Hospital will continue to recruit and train additional human resources to gradually operate the entire system.

An important priority during this period is to ensure the quality of treatment at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital 2 is equivalent to that of facility 1, so that people can enjoy high-quality medical services right at facility 2, while reducing the burden on facility 1.

Dr. Duong Duc Hung also shared that currently, the bidding for machinery and equipment for the second facility is also being conducted in the direction of choosing a short supply time and ensuring regulations. The hospital is still implementing vigorously and reporting weekly progress to the Ministry of Health.

Previously, in May 2025, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh inspected the Investment Project to build the second facility of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital and the Investment Project to build the second facility of Bach Mai Hospital in Ha Nam province.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh requested that the authorities must overcome the existing limitations to continue investing; determined to put these two hospital projects into operation by the end of this year.

The Deputy Prime Minister stated that the investment project to build the second facility of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital and the investment project to build the second facility of Bach Mai Hospital in Ha Nam province are two important projects with large investment scale, large investment rate/bed (about 5 billion VND/bed) and are highly anticipated and expected by the people, but for various reasons, the two projects have been delayed for 6 to 7 years.

The project was stopped for too long, causing a huge waste, not to mention the unfinished investment items were degraded over time, the price of raw materials increased, increasing the investment capital of the project...

"The delay of the two projects is a mistake to the people. We must be determined to overcome the existing limitations to continue investing in these two important hospital projects. The remaining time is very short to be able to complete this year, putting the two hospitals into operation in accordance with the direction of the Politburo and the General Secretary," the First Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
