After meeting with representatives of domestic and international businesses and business associations on March 6, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc had a second meeting with the Ho Chi Minh City business community at the Business Coffee program on the morning of March 8. The program was organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association (HUBA) at the Rex Hotel (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City).

Although the program started at 7:30, the businessmen were surprised when at just after 7:00 the Chairman of the City People's Committee was present and had breakfast, coffee, and shared with the city's businessmen.

Sharing with the business community of Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Duoc said he was "very happy" and honored to have just taken on the position of Chairman of the City for a short time but was able to meet the business community, experts and female entrepreneurs on March 8.

Right in the Business Coffee program, Mr. Duoc gave fresh bouquets of flowers to female entrepreneurs on International Women's Day.

Sharing about the city's growth story, he reviewed Ho Chi Minh City's economic achievements in 2024 and said that the city aims for double-digit growth.

According to Mr. Duoc, despite the achievements, the city still has existing problems and limitations that need to be resolved, and needs to remove the city's "blood clot" with pending projects.

To achieve growth targets, Mr. Duoc said the city really needs to listen to advice from businesses and experts to turn potentials into action, remove "blood clots", unblock resources and deploy new resources.

"Experts and businesses, please give your advice. The city really appreciates these suggestions," Mr. Duoc said to the business community.

City changes mindset to serve people and businesses

The Chairman of the City People's Committee said that to achieve double-digit growth, the city will boost public investment, mainly through transport infrastructure so that "if the roads are clear, the finances will be clear" and the city has been, is, and will be stepping up to remove difficulties for stuck projects, even though it knows there will be many difficulties.

At the same time, the city will promote new resources such as Can Gio transit port, building a digital transformation center, an international financial center...

"It is expected that the city will form a multi-purpose high-tech center, a center for AI (artificial intelligence), innovation, and a center for Big Data, expected to be located in Thu Duc City on the basis of expanding the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park," Mr. Duoc shared.

In addition, the Chairman of the City People's Committee also said that the City government is determined to change its mindset from public administration to service, considering people and businesses as the center, and the business community as a resource for development.

Appreciating the role of entrepreneurs, Mr. Duoc called on businesses to demonstrate their dedication and intelligence in their work so that they can develop and contribute to the country. At the same time, businesses can feel secure and trust the government because there is a win-win relationship between businesses and the government.

"Your business's success is our joy, your difficulties are the city government's concerns, we hope you will cooperate," Mr. Duoc affirmed.

The Business Coffee Program is organized by HUBA every month. In the past, leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee from different periods often attended, had breakfast, had coffee and listened to the sharing of Ho Chi Minh City businessmen.
