Officially amending the education program of 4 subjects from primary to high school

The education program of history and geography subjects at primary and secondary levels; geography grade 12; history grade 10 and civic education grade 10 (economic and legal education) has been revised to suit the task of arranging provincial-level administrative units and amending and supplementing the Constitution.

The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued Circular No. 17/2025/TT-BGDDT, amending and supplementing a number of contents in the General Education Program related to the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units and amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Constitution.

The Ministry of Education and Training has officially revised the general education program of 4 subjects to suit the arrangement of administrative units.

The edited content focuses on the following issues:

For history and geography subjects at primary and secondary levels, and geography subject for grade 12: revise and supplement contents related to socio -economic regions such as production territory organization of some economic sectors, socio-economic regional boundaries; names and number of provinces and cities in the region, area size, population of the region; economic development resources, development situation, distribution of economic sectors in the regions and some other contents to ensure logic in implementation.

For the civic education program: amend and supplement the 10th grade program on the topic " Political system of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam" and the topic "Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam".

For history subject: amend and supplement the optional study topic in grade 10 (topic of Vietnamese State and law in history).

The Ministry of Education and Training believes that the issuance of the Circular amending and supplementing The general education program is suitable for changes, ensuring the scientific and practical nature of the subjects.

Regarding the implementation of the general education program and textbooks for the 2025-2026 school year, educational institutions will continue to use the selected textbooks; at the same time, organize reviews and direct professional groups and teachers to adjust the materials in lessons and topics to suit the rearrangement of provincial-level administrative units, the organization of two-level local governments, and the amended and supplemented contents of the Constitution.

The Ministry of Education and Training said it will organize training to guide managers and teachers in implementation; including guiding teachers to proactively adjust lecture content, ensuring accuracy, updates and suitability to practice, especially for materials, data, maps, boundaries of socio-economic regions and administrative units.

Organize teaching according to the revised curriculum, fully implement additional content in history and geography subjects at primary and secondary levels; geography grade 12; history and civics education grade 10.

Previously, the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 202/2025/QH15 dated June 12, 2025 on the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units and Resolution No. 203/2025/QH15 dated June 16, 2025 on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

To comply with the Constitution and resolutions of the National Assembly, the education programs of the above subjects need to be revised.

The Ministry of Education and Training has organized research to develop the program, revise and supplement the educational program of subjects according to current regulations. Before officially promulgating, the draft revised and supplemented program was consulted with teachers, ministries, branches and experts.
