The 1915 Williams Clady was one of four prototypes built. It is the only one in the world to be found. It used a radial engine located at the rear wheels. The Williams Clady looks like a bicycle frame, but it is actually 110 years old. It is gas-powered with a large tank just below the handlebars.
The saddle was a bicycle-like style, covered in brown leather and perforated in the center. In 1915, radial engines were commonly found mainly on aircraft. Because of the way the engine rotated around the crankshaft on the Williams Clady, they were perfect for the propellers on early airplanes and helicopters.
This particular radial engine has a capacity of 873 cubic centimeters and a power of about 10 horsepower. The vehicle uses a two-speed gearbox, an ignition system from Bosch and a kick-start system linked to the engine by a chain drive. The fuel tank at the front and the large diameter frame tubes hold the engine oil (like an old Triumph Bonneville). The front wheel uses spoke rims, the rear wheel uses black star-shaped multi-spoke rims. The vehicle only has rear drum brakes.
The pedal-operated system is connected to a chain. In January this year, at an auction in Las Vegas, USA, the classic car was sold to a customer for $ 170,500. Video : See details of the 1915 Williams Clady motorcycle.
