Details of school schedule for students in Can Tho

(NLDO) - Preschool and primary schools in Can Tho have a school start date one day earlier than other levels.

On August 20, the People's Committee of Can Tho City announced that it had just issued the 2025-2026 school year plan for preschool education , general education and continuing education in the area. Accordingly, the school start date schedule for all levels is as follows:

Preschool level : School starts on August 28, opening ceremony on September 5, semester I from September 8, 2025 to before January 10, 2026; semester II from January 12, 2026 to before May 23, 2026; end of school year before May 31, 2026.

High school students in Can Tho will return to school on August 29.

Primary level : School starts on August 28 (August 25 for grade 1), semester I from September 8, 2025 to before January 10, 2026; semester II from January 12, 2026 to before May 23, 2026; end of school year before May 31, 2026.

Secondary school : Back to school on August 29 (grade 9 on August 22), semester I from September 8, 2025 to before January 17, 2026; semester II from January 19, 2026 to before May 31, 2026; end of school year before May 31, 2026.

High school level : Back to school on August 29 (for grade 12 on August 22), semester I from September 8, 2025 to before January 17, 2026; semester II from January 19, 2026 to before May 31, 2026; end of school year before May 31, 2026.

Continuing education: School starts on August 29 (for grades 9 and 12, it is August 22), semester I from September 8, 2025 to before January 17, 2026; semester II from January 19, 2026 to before May 31, 2026; end of school year before May 31, 2026.

The People's Committee of Can Tho City assigned the Department of Education and Training to direct all levels of education to seriously implement the above plan; decide to let students stay home from school in case of extreme weather, natural disasters and arrange make-up classes; ensure teachers' leave time during the school year according to regulations.

At the same time, the Department of Education and Training shall advise the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City on the extension of the school year by no more than 2 weeks compared to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training to ensure the implementation and completion of educational programs at all levels in case of natural disasters and epidemics; report to the Ministry of Education and Training on special cases arising before implementation.
