PHU YEN PETROLEUM BRANCH: Confident, worthy of being a typical enterprise

Phu Yen Petroleum Branch ( Petrolimex Phu Yen) always maintains the leading and key role of a state-owned enterprise in petroleum trading, making an extremely important contribution to the construction and socio-economic development of the locality, deserving to be one of the typical enterprises in the province.

Historical milestones

Exactly 45 years ago, on July 1, 1980, Tuy Hoa Petroleum Store, the predecessor of Petrolimex Phu Yen, was officially established according to Decision 206/XD-QD dated June 20, 1980 of the Director of Regional Petroleum Company V on receiving Tuy Hoa Town Petroleum Store from Phu Khanh Materials Company and converting the above store into Tuy Hoa Petroleum Store under Phu Khanh Petroleum Depot (Regional Petroleum Company V).

At this time, the main task of Tuy Hoa Gas Station was to receive and distribute gasoline according to the State's quota and limit, serving the needs of economic development, national defense, and people's lives in the North Phu Khanh area. In the early days of operation, Tuy Hoa Gas Station had only 5 stalls, 1 small warehouse, with 17 officers and employees, mainly cadres participating in the resistance war and some soldiers transferred to other sectors, headed by Mr. Pham Ngoc Chau, a death row prisoner in Con Dao.

In the early days of reception, the staff and workers of Tuy Hoa Gas Station had to face many difficulties and shortages; however, with a sense of responsibility, sacrifice, overcoming difficulties and love for the profession, those people who had once been through life and death together day and night shared hardships, united, attached, joined forces and were of one mind; gradually overcame difficulties, made every effort to devote themselves to excellently completing the assigned political tasks.

After the re-establishment of Phu Yen province, in order to promptly meet the requirements and political tasks, on May 15, 1989, Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation issued Decision 225/XD-QD on the establishment of Phu Yen Gas Station under Phu Khanh Petroleum Company with the task of regulating the supply and stabilizing the gasoline market for Phu Yen province.

Two years later, in order to promptly serve the economic, national defense and security requirements of the locality, the Ministry of Trade and Tourism issued Decision 24/TMDL-QD, dated September 5, 1991, on the establishment of Phu Yen Petroleum Branch (Petrolimex Phu Yen) under Phu Khanh Petroleum Company (Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation). This was a very important and strategic decision and a solid foundation and basis for the collective of officers and employees of Petrolimex Phu Yen to build the unit to develop more and more.

After nearly half a century of construction and development from 5 stores, 1 warehouse, and a center with rudimentary equipment, Petrolimex Phu Yen has now built a widespread distribution system throughout the province with 39 stores selling gasoline, gas, and nearly 30 gas stations belonging to retail franchisees. Petrolimex Phu Yen has also organized business in the E5 Ron 92 gasoline, Ron 95-III gasoline, 0.05S-II diesel fuel, 0.001SV diesel, lubricants, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and PJICO insurance, meeting the needs of socio-economic development, national defense and security, and people's lives in the area.

Focus on investing in human resources

When it was first established, Petrolimex Phu Yen had only 17 staff members, most of whom had not received in-depth training in professional skills. But up to now, the branch has over 180 staff members; most of them have university or post-graduate degrees, the rest are intermediate and technical workers who have been thoroughly trained in petroleum business.

With the motto of promoting effective business, ensuring employment, constantly increasing income, creating the most favorable conditions for cadres and employees to work, in the past 10 years, the Party Committee and leaders of Petrolimex Phu Yen have always focused on and paid attention to creating favorable conditions for cadres and employees to regularly study, train, and improve their political level and professional expertise; thereby building the unit to increasingly develop, worthy of being the representative of the Petrolimex brand in Phu Yen.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Luc, one of the branch's petrol sales staff, confided: I always feel proud to be an employee of Petrolimex Phu Yen. Here, we are always cared for, worried about, and supported both materially and spiritually by the branch's leaders. Every year, Petrolimex Phu Yen always organizes sports, cultural and artistic activities with the branch's own identity, in order to create a playground for staff and employees to meet, exchange and enhance the spirit of internal solidarity. With the achievements in recent years, Petrolimex Phu Yen has affirmed its role as a unit with a long tradition; was awarded the Second Class Labor Medal by the President, many collectives and individuals were awarded the Excellent Emulation Flag of the province, ministries and branches, and certificates of merit from the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee.

Investing in new and modern gas stations is one of the tasks that Petrolimex Phu Yen has focused on in recent times.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Hong, Store Manager of Petrolimex - Store 125 (Ward 1, Hai Rieng Town, Song Hinh District) said: We consider each customer as a relative to serve with all our heart and dedication. During the sales process, the staff and workers follow the 5-step process, including a very strict quality management process, and at the same time thoroughly deploy modern technology applications, creating transparency and trust for customers when coming to Petrolimex Phu Yen stores in general and Store 125 in particular.

In recent years, besides the favorable aspects, Petrolimex Phu Yen's operations have also faced many challenges, especially the fierce competition pressure of the market.
