On the evening of June 20, reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano said Liverpool had reached an agreement with Bournemouth Club on the transfer of Milos Kerkez.
Specifically, the fee Liverpool must pay Bournemouth is 40 million pounds ($54 million). This is a quite reasonable number, because Transfermarkt also values Kerkez at around 38 million pounds.
Milos Kerkez is only 21 years old but is already considered one of the best left-backs in the Premier League. The Hungarian defender joined Bournemouth in 2023, and has made 74 appearances in the past 2 years.
Kerkez was also voted into the Premier League's best XI by fans at the end of the season. Liverpool have long considered him a replacement for Andrew Robertson, who is likely to leave for Atletico Madrid.
At Liverpool, Kerkez will be reunited with his Hungary team-mate Szoboszlai. Liverpool have long agreed personal terms with the Hungarian defender, with his family confirming his move to Liverpool a few days ago.
Thus, Kerkez will be Liverpool's 5th new player this summer, after goalkeepers Mamardashvili and Pecsi, right-back Frimpong and midfielder Florian Wirtz.
Liverpool have spent a total of £217m in transfer fees on these five players. Wirtz is the most expensive at £116m. Next is Kerkez.
This is certainly Liverpool's record spending season in the transfer market. The previous record was in the summer of 2018 - when they spent £155m on Alisson, Keita, Fabinho and Shaqiri.
