Patient NPT (66 years old, in Hanoi ), admitted to the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases on the afternoon of June 4, in critical condition: deep coma, no pulse or blood pressure, dilated pupils on both sides, no light reflex. On the patient's body appear many burn marks on both knees, the back of the hands, around the navel and the tip of the penis - typical signs suspected of being caused by electric shock.

According to the patient's family, while repairing the water tank on the rooftop, Mr. T. suddenly lost consciousness and was discovered by his family and taken to the hospital.
Based on clinical signs, doctors diagnosed the patient with cardiac arrest due to electric shock.
After 30 minutes of intensive care, the patient had a pulse again and was maintained on vasomotor function due to shock after circulatory arrest.
The patient was given advanced resuscitation with measures such as mechanical ventilation, continuous blood filtration, and placed on a controlled hypothermia system to protect brain function. He is continuing to receive active treatment.
Master, Doctor Le Son Viet (Emergency Department, Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases), said: "This is a case with a risk of very severe neurological sequelae after cardiac arrest. However, the patient is currently making certain progress, the pupils have returned to normal and have reflexes, the vasopressor has been stopped and the dialysis has been stopped. We will gradually reduce the sedative and assess the state of consciousness in the coming days."
Doctor Viet noted that to avoid electric shock accidents in daily life, people need to be especially careful when repairing electrical equipment or systems in the home. Before operating, the power source must be completely disconnected by turning off the circuit breaker or circuit breaker.
Repairs should only be done with dry hands, on dry ground and using specialized tools with insulation such as gloves, screwdrivers, and insulated pliers. Absolutely do not climb on roofs, water tanks or high places related to the electrical system when safety is not guaranteed.
