Over the past 28 years (1997-2025), Quang Nam Radio and Television Station (PT-TH) has taken creative steps in organizing press products. From columns, reportage films, documentaries, entertainment game shows..., a countryside rich in revolutionary traditions and cultural identity is portrayed, ensuring good propaganda work while contributing to theeducation of revolutionary historical traditions, combined with promoting the cultural identity of Quang Nam.

Historical documentary imprint

Documentary films such as “Revolutionary Epic” are not only of Quang Nam but also valuable materials to educate the tradition of patriotism, revolution, and national pride of every Vietnamese citizen. And Quang Nam Radio and Television Station has pioneered in the field of historical documentary production.

Quang Nam Radio and Television Station persistently maintains a weekly column called “Land and People of Quang Nam” specializing in producing documentaries reflecting the rich history, culture, and famous people of Quang Nam.

In the reportage and documentary sector, since 2011, the station has launched the documentary project “Thu Bon Mother”. The project has produced 26 documentaries.

The film series “Mother Thu Bon” deals with the history and culture of Quang Nam from prehistoric times, Sa Huynh, Champa and the southern expansion of Dai Viet people. Places of Quang Nam homeland associated with Mother Thu Bon River are shown in the film such as the source of Tra Linh, Vu Gia, Truong Giang, Chu Lai - Nui Thanh, Tien River, Tranh River, Hon Kem - Da Dung, Lo Canh Giang, Cu Lao Cham...

When participating in the production of the documentary series “Thu Bon Mother”, writer Nguyen Khac Phuc (now deceased) said: “The production of the film “Thu Bon Mother”, in addition to the thirst for knowledge, also contains deeper love, gratitude, and the desire to explore the land that has existed since the beginning of the world, and has been built by generations of Quang ancestors, generation after generation, to honor the Vietnamese humanistic values on this unique land to be condensed in the words “Quang Culture”, for future generations…”.

The success in terms of communication, humanity and above all highlighting the cultural and historical region of Quang Nam and its people in the series “Thu Bon Mother” has inspired and nurtured the provincial station for future projects. Accordingly, the provincial station has also produced and broadcast many other historical documentaries about the land of heroic culture and tradition.

Following the history of the nation, these documentary films have mentioned important historical periods and events of Quang Nam such as: Quang Nam on the journey of opening up the country, the Nghia Hoi, Duy Tan movements, the 1908 Tax Resistance Movement; famous people such as Hoang Dieu, Phan Chau Trinh, Phan Thanh, Le Dinh Tham, Huynh Thuc Khang, Tran Quy Cap, Thai Phien, Tran Cao Van, Hoang Huu Nam, Vo Chi Cong, Pham Phu Thu, Le Tri Vien...; places such as Nui Thanh, Kham Duc, Cam Doi, Khu Uy Khu 5, Hoi An Hero... were also produced and broadcast in turn.

In 10 years (2016 - 2025), the Station has produced 50 documentaries on historical topics and famous people of Quang Nam from modern to contemporary times.

Gameshow "My Hometown Quang Nam"

“My Hometown Quang Nam” is a program that is not only rich in culture but also highly community-oriented and leaves many deep impressions. The program is not only a contest but also depicts a vivid picture of the life, culture and people of Quang Nam.

From the costumes, voices, to the way the contest was organized, everything exuded the rustic, affectionate spirit of the land "where it has soaked in without rain". "My Hometown in Quang Nam" was not held in the studio but moved to the communes, villages, and hamlets - where there are farmers with muddy hands and feet, and artisans from craft villages.

Over the 9 years of organization (2016 - 2025), the game show has had 40 communes, wards and towns from 17 districts, towns and cities in the province participating. This closeness creates a genuine, warm atmosphere and makes people feel like they are an important part of the program.

Quang Nam’s identity is clearly expressed, close to the people, from the countryside to the mountains, diverse, lively and rich in education. Each contest is not only entertaining but also conveys knowledge, arousing pride in the homeland.

The program shines not only because of its engaging content but also because of the ordinary people who participate. They are resourceful farmers, skillful women, old people telling village stories, and young people who love their homeland's culture. They are also the "storytellers" who make Quang Nam more vibrant.

Gameshow "Students of Quang Nam"

Similar to “My Hometown of Quang Nam”, the game show “Students of Quang Nam” jointly produced by Quang Nam Radio and Television Station and the Department of Education and Training is also a television program that bears the cultural imprint of Quang Nam. The program is not only an intellectual playground for students but also deeply expresses the cultural identity of Quang Nam through many aspects.

The program incorporates many questions related to local history such as historical events, cultural celebrities, and revolutionary struggle traditions associated with Quang Nam. Cultural identity, customs, and practices such as folk songs and traditional festivals are incorporated into the competition, such as the Ba Thu Bon and Ba Chua Ngoc festivals, the custom of making banh tet and banh it la gai, etc.

“Students of Quang Nam” is considered a miniature “Road to Olympia” for those working in education and television in Quang Nam. The creative point and clear expression of the cultural soul of Quang Nam in the game show “Students of Quang Nam” is the preservation and reproduction of the image of intelligent, hard-working, diligent, and polite students of Quang Nam.

“Students of Quang Nam” is proof that education can become attractive if linked to local culture and identity, and television is not only for entertainment, but also an effective means of education, especially in preserving intangible cultural heritage.

Preserving the soul of the homeland

Columns such as “Experience of Quang Nam”, “Colors of Life”, “Literature and Arts”, “Literature and Arts of Quang Nam”, “Culture and Society”; columns with cultural identities of ethnic minorities in the mountainous areas such as the Ca Dong and Co Tu language programs… have focused on reflecting the rich and unique tangible and intangible cultural values of Quang Nam.

Along with that are profound and humane programs, such as "Quang land singing", "Folk songs of Bai Choi" or reports on craft villages, cuisine, traditional festivals...

In recent years, there has been the documentary series “The Rivers of Quang Nam” (with 20 episodes produced in 2023), the documentary series “The Quintessence of Craft Villages” (20 episodes, produced in 2024) or the 20-episode series “Returning to the Quang Nam Festival Region” produced in 2025; Quang Nam television workers have brought the audience back to simple yet precious things, so that every child of Quang Nam can see themselves in them and those who have never been there want to visit once.

All productions are broadcast regularly on television channels and posted on online platforms such as YouTube and Facebook, making it easy for audiences to follow and interact.

Preserving cultural identity is not only a job, but also a way to express deep love for the homeland. In the past as well as in the future, the people working in PT-TH in Quang Nam always carry out the task of providing information while preserving the soul of the homeland, so that the beautiful old traditions remain alive today and forever.
