9X Nung guy draws rubber garden map using digital technology

At Loc Ninh Rubber Company Limited, Mr. Hoang Van Canh, an officer of the Planning and Investment Department and Secretary of the Company's Youth Union, "drew" the entire land and garden map using modern technology, effectively supporting the management and operation of the company's garden. With his outstanding achievements, Mr. Canh was honored as "Outstanding Vietnamese Rubber Worker" and a model of "Excellent Young Worker" nationwide in 2025.

Digital gardener

Mr. Hoang Van Canh (Nung ethnic group), born in 1990 in Loc Ninh district, Binh Phuoc province. In 2014, after graduating from Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr. Canh started working at Loc Ninh Rubber One Member Co., Ltd. During 11 years of working with rubber trees in his homeland, although he did not receive formal training in information technology, Mr. Canh has boldly learned, promoted his strengths, and made efforts to apply information technology to his daily work.

Mr. Canh said: “When I first started working, I realized that most of the land management data was still manual, on paper maps, and fragmented. I struggled, thought, and boldly proposed and built a digital map system applying GIS technology for the entire management area of more than 12,300 hectares of production land. This also caught up with the digital transformation in the current rubber industry, so this proposal received consensus from the superiors. After that, I made an effort to study, apply, and successfully "draw" the entire land and garden map using modern technology. At the same time, integrating garden information such as age, growth status, pests, productivity, etc., helped the company's leaders, officers, and employees easily monitor the details of each plot of land and each rubber garden via computer and smartphone."

Mr. Canh shared: “Young people not only need to be solid in their expertise but also need to think creatively and be willing to learn to adapt to rapid changes in technology, meeting increasingly high job requirements”. Sharing the reason for his efforts to study and apply information technology to his expertise, Mr. Canh affirmed: “In the context of digital transformation taking place strongly nationwide, the agricultural and forestry sectors are also facing the requirement to innovate management thinking, apply technology to improve production efficiency, protect resources and meet increasingly strict standards on the environment, traceability and sustainable development. In fact, without modern management tools, it will be very difficult for us to control land use, forest status, as well as manage the current status of orchards. These factors are closely related to the efficiency, transparency and long-term sustainability of agricultural and forestry production activities”.

Application of GIS technology and digital maps to improve the efficiency of land and forestry management is widely used at Loc Ninh Rubber One Member Co., Ltd.

From 2020 to present, as the person in charge of land management at Loc Ninh Rubber One Member Co., Ltd., Mr. Hoang Van Canh has proactively proposed and implemented many solutions to apply information technology, especially the digital map system, into production and management practices.

Outstanding Union Leader

Not only good at his profession, as Secretary of the Company's Youth Union, Mr. Hoang Van Canh is also an exemplary youth leader, taking the lead in innovating Youth Union activities, applying technology, and spreading the spirit of dedication among young people.

Mr. Hoang Van Canh was honored to receive the "Excellent Young Worker" award nationwide in 2025 from the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

Mr. Canh has successfully built and deployed the model of “Application of artificial intelligence and digital technology in union work”, helping to connect union members from different units, increase the effectiveness of internal communication and manage movement activities. This initiative has been recognized and highly appreciated by the company and Binh Phuoc Provincial Union.

With outstanding achievements, Mr. Hoang Van Canh was awarded many titles and certificates of merit by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Vietnam Rubber Industry Group, Binh Phuoc Provincial People's Committee, and Loc Ninh Rubber One Member Co., Ltd.

Ms. Vu Thi Thuy Trang, Chairman of the Trade Union of Loc Ninh Rubber One Member Co., Ltd., said: Mr. Canh is one of the advanced models in the movement "Good workers, creative workers" launched by the company. Mr. Canh is always at the forefront of the company's digital transformation with effective innovative solutions. In 2025, Mr. Hoang Van Canh was honored to receive the "Excellent Young Worker" award nationwide by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; the Vietnam Rubber Industry Group Trade Union honored him as an "Excellent Rubber Worker"; Loc Ninh Rubber One Member Co., Ltd. awarded a certificate of merit to a typical individual in the patriotic emulation movement for the period 2020-2025.
