After a period of repair, upgrade and expansion, Phu Dinh Bridge (connecting District 6 with the old District 8) has been completed and officially reopened to traffic, ending more than a month of temporary traffic ban for construction. Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction announced a ban on traffic crossing the bridge from June 7 to July 17 for repair and upgrade construction.

Sharing with reporters, Ms. Nguyen Khanh Phuong (residing in My Phuc apartment building, Phu Dinh ward, Ho Chi Minh City) said that Phu Dinh bridge has been fully expanded, and in the past two weeks, the rush hour traffic jam in this area has improved.
Currently, after the Phu Dinh bridge was expanded, the authorities have reorganized the traffic flow plan in the area on the old District 6 bank. Thanks to that, the traffic situation through the area has improved significantly, there is no longer congestion at the bridgehead during rush hour as before.

Phu Dinh Bridge, spanning the Ruot Ngua Canal, is nearly 100 m long and about 3 m wide. The bridge currently has a maximum load limit of 1 ton and prohibits cars from passing through. Despite its small size, it is still one of the important connecting routes for motorbikes traveling between District 6, District 8 (old) and Vo Van Kiet Street.
According to the plan, Ho Chi Minh City will build a new Phu Dinh bridge on Ring Road 2, located at the southern gateway of the city.
Commenting on the issue of naming the bridge, Mr. Nguyen Van Quoc - a local resident said: because the new Phu Dinh bridge will be built on Ho Hoc Lam street according to the planning, Ho Chi Minh City should consider changing the name of the small bridge currently named Phu Dinh to Hoa Luc bridge. Because this bridge was built to replace the old Hoa Luc ferry.
