Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) officially announced that 5pm on August 1 is the deadline for teams to submit player registration lists for the new season. However, Quang Nam Club did not submit the registration documents, which means that this team has officially withdrawn from the V-League 2025-2026.
This was a predictable ending, because throughout the past time, Quang Nam Club was almost "racing against time" to find a sponsor with enough financial capacity and enthusiasm to continue operating. Although there was information that a business had expressed interest, the final negotiations still could not reach an agreement.
The inability to stay in the V. League inevitably led to many key players leaving the team, including head coach Van Sy Son. This captain left an emotional letter on social media, sharing his regret and gratitude to those who accompanied him on his short journey in Quang Nam.
It is still unclear what the final fate of Quang Nam Club will be, whether the team will merge withSHB Da Nang or will be completely dissolved. Meanwhile, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and VPF are urgently implementing plans to redraw lots to ensure the tournament takes place as planned.
Quang Nam's withdrawal forced the organizing committee to adjust the personnel plan. According to announcement No. 1585, one of the two teams Truong Tuoi Dong Nai or PVF-CAND will be chosen as a replacement. If both teams decline, the 2025-2026 V.League schedule will have to be redrawn.
The withdrawal of Quang Nam FC from the V-League is a warning bell about the sustainability of the operating model of professional football teams in Vietnam. Although they won the national championship in 2017, after less than a decade, the Quang Nam team had to sadly leave the game because they did not have enough financial resources to maintain their operations.
The withdrawal of Quang Nam club not only disrupted the tournament but also closed a memorable chapter in the history of football in the Central region.
