The parade training grounds are always filled with an atmosphere of urgency and iron discipline. But on Sunday afternoon, it seemed to soften with brief meetings. The young couple’s meeting was limited to a few precious hours according to regulations. There were no romantic dates, just everyday stories and kind greetings.
She told stories about the hospital, her family, and her loved ones. He showed off his skin, tanned by the sun and wind, but his eyes still sparkled with pride. For them, those few hours were a priceless source of energy, enough to dispel all fatigue and give them strength for the long week ahead.

With his blue shirt and her white blouse, many friends still jokingly call their story the real-life version of "Descendants of the Sun", a romantic comparison for a relationship that began by chance. It was a morning at the end of 2023, during a blood test at the Military Science Academy, Nguyen Cong Long (born in 2002), a student of Technical Reconnaissance, fell in love with the technician Le Thi Tuyen (born in 1998) with smiling eyes. He even secretly took a photo of her back from afar, a secret that she only learned much later.
With perseverance and sincerity, he found a way to get to know her, and their love blossomed, nurtured by understanding and empathy for each other's specific jobs. He was an honest, quiet but emotional person, a person who "did more than he talked". She, a girl who initially set a rule for herself not to love someone younger than her, eventually broke her own principles.
After graduating, Lieutenant Nguyen Cong Long accepted a job at the Nam Dinh Provincial Border Guard Command. Together they overcame the challenge of a long-distance relationship of more than 80km, before officially becoming a family in December 2024.
During the week, the young officer’s real rest time only comes after 9pm, when all tasks from the training ground to internal affairs are completed. And that precious time from 9 to 10pm, he devotes entirely to his wife. “Are you tired?”, “Was the training hard today?” - her simple questions are always the most effective spiritual medicine. He rarely complains, always just smiles and tells funny stories on the training ground to reassure his wife. She understands that behind that smile are drops of sweat and tireless efforts.
Talking about her husband, Ms. Tuyen smiled, a smile filled with both love and pride: “Thinking about him practicing in the sun and rain, I feel so sorry. But the feeling of pride in my heart is much greater, pride because he is doing a very special and glorious mission.”
Their love is now not just a matter of two people, it is mixed with love for the country, with the responsibility of the young generation. It is a testament to a mature love, built on the foundation of trust and companionship.
And then, that great day will come. When millions of hearts turn to the historic Ba Dinh stage, she will stand among the crowd, with an indescribable emotion and pride. In the straight, majestic rows of soldiers, she will look for the familiar figure - the sunburnt but determined face of her husband.
At that moment, her husband no longer belonged to her alone. He was part of the nation’s strength, successfully completing his sacred mission to the Fatherland. For his young wife in the rear, that would be the greatest and most complete pride, an eternal highlight in their love story.
