“Thank you”: The sweetest and most beautiful word!

BPO - The last day of June is a very ordinary day for many people. But for those who work at the Radio - Television Station and Binh Phuoc Newspaper (BPTV) in particular, June 30 is the day the last radio and television programs are broadcast under the BPTV brand, and the day the last issue of Binh Phuoc Newspaper is published. In the sadness of saying goodbye to familiar things, there will be sweet memories that will be forever preserved, and words of thanks will be spoken. For me, I use these words to express my gratitude to those who have accompanied me and entered my writings.

Emotions from the character

I don’t know how many people have stopped at my writings, listened to and watched the radio and television productions that my team and I have always meticulously produced. I believe that some people read, watched and then forgot, but there are also people who cut out the articles, framed them respectfully and hung them on their walls, and some people asked for the link to share as a souvenir…

One of the people I met that I was particularly impressed with was Mr. Huynh Minh Hiep - a collector of valuable artifacts, including a collection of more than 1,000 newspapers, in Ho Chi Minh City. He and the old newspapers were the "soul" in an emotional story in the newspaper, helping me to be honored at the 3rd Journalism Festival in 2025 organized by BPTV. But what made me speechless was that he framed the newspaper article and hung it on the wall of the Xu Nam Ky coffee shop, which he described as "in the most visible position", also helping me see that my product was appreciated.

Collector Huynh Minh Hiep is a familiar figure in the press, but his story never gets old.

The local Party newspaper named Binh Phuoc has been published for more than 28 years, and there have been countless characters in each issue. They are politicians, generals, veterans, farmers, women... with all aspects of everyday life, with thousands of their own stories. The more special the character, the more it evokes emotions in the public. I believe that the story of village elder Dieu Len - a symbol of the mountains and forests of Binh Phuoc, of the strong-willed disabled man Tran Ai Hai Son, or "mother Bay beggar" Duong Thi Tuyet... are always the perfect pieces for a journalistic work that convinces the public from the first lines, sounds, and images.

Binh Phuoc Newspaper was hung solemnly by Mr. Huynh Minh Hiep at the Xu Nam Ky coffee shop (Binh Thanh district, Ho Chi Minh City).

To complete a satisfactory journalistic work, the character is the first priority. There are characters that we meet by chance, characters that we have to go through many intermediary levels to find, there are also characters that are willing to welcome us, but there are also many characters that we have to use all our words to convince... Journalism not only trains us to have quick reflexes, but above all, it also teaches us "negotiation skills". But not all characters can be successfully persuaded, so for us reporters, as long as the character opens up, we have at least a 50-70% success rate. Sometimes I wonder if there were no characters willing to tell stories, perhaps journalism would be much bland because there would be nothing unique to write and tell.

The essence of the expert

To have a work on air, in addition to the main character, we must mention the companions, who are researchers, managers, leaders - those who play the role of experts in the work. They do not take up the airtime, do not need much commentary, but without their appearance, the work will not be able to convince the public. Even if it is just a comment, a brief assessment, it is always enough to elevate the work. They are the grains of salt that help the soup to be more flavorful.

During my career as a journalist, I have met, appreciated and been grateful to leaders who always understood the hardships of reporters, and were willing to spend some of their time participating in talk shows and giving interviews. There were department leaders who were so close, friendly and fond of reporters that they did not need an invitation, just a call and were ready to welcome and answer questions from reporters. Our task at that time was only to ask really good questions, find really valuable details to create the best possible work, meeting the needs of the public.

Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department Mac Dinh Huan spoke at the training conference on literary and artistic theory and criticism (August 2024) in Binh Dinh province.

Having the opportunity to participate in a working trip with the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department (now the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department), attending a training conference on literary and artistic theory and criticism (August 2024) in Binh Dinh province, I "saw" more and more the enthusiasm of Deputy Head of the Department Mac Dinh Huan for the field of literature and art of Binh Phuoc. He is concerned and wishes to create the best environment for the creative team of artists. "For literature and art, for the creative force of artists, among the solutions, I think it is necessary to pay attention to discovering and nurturing this team. The conference raised the issue of paying attentionto education, training, use, nurturing... but if talent is not discovered and nurtured, it will not be possible to train a strong successor team. I really hope that there will be a mechanism to both discover at all levels and train and orient this team to grow, providing many quality literary and artistic works from life itself" - Mr. Mac Dinh Huan shared.

Thanks not in the title

For us, journalism is not just a profession to make a living, and journalistic works are not products of compulsion or pressure in life. Each work is an emotional debt, a debt to the public of beautiful things... so that we can complete the work with respect for each character, each detail, each sentence.

In recent years, journalism, because of “a few bad apples spoiling the barrel”, because of the phenomenon of extortion and blackmail by some corrupt reporters, is no longer respected as before. The unsympathetic looks sometimes make us feel sad, but I know, as long as we do our job properly, with our own heart, knowing how to respect the core values, respecting the characters, journalism will always be welcomed.

If I could send a thank you, I would like to send it to the people who opened their hearts to me, even if only for a few short hours; thank the experts I have never met, but were willing to answer phone interviews so that I could complete the article. I would also like to thank my colleagues in the team, who silently fulfilled their roles, even though their names did not appear on the newspaper page. And above all, I would like to thank those who read, shared, encouraged… to help me be more confident in my choice.

June.

Writing thank you notes, I know I'm writing the most beautiful story for myself.
