Looking back a few years ago, in the work of building the unit, some grassroots units of the Gia Dinh Regiment still had problems maintaining regularity and organizing activities that were not effective and substantive.
The regiment has boldly deployed to increase the number of agency cadres to closely follow, monitor and supervise the units, creating a fundamental change. This model not only strengthens the regular order and improves the quality of training, but more importantly, it has aroused the trust and attachment between the Party Committee, commanders and soldiers - those who directly train day and night, ready to fight.
Talking to us, Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Truong An, Political Commissar of Gia Dinh Regiment said: “We have determined that the close connection between the Party Committee, the commander and the troops brings about efficiency when the cadres directly work together and share together. Assigning agency cadres and assistants to the grassroots is a way to shorten the distance, so that all policies and resolutions of the Party Committee do not stop on paper, but turn into concrete actions, close to the situation of each unit.”
To implement this model closely, Gia Dinh Regiment will assign specific responsibilities to each unit for the staff of the General Staff, Political Department , Logistics - Engineering and assistants. This team not only attends the activities, but also becomes true companions of the base unit. That is, they are present during political study hours, directly go to the training ground, support training methods, participate in Party cell activities, eat with soldiers, and listen to soldiers' feedback.
Accordingly, at a base unit, three working groups work together: the Staff maintains order and strengthens discipline, the Political Department grasps and orients ideology, fosters will, and the Logistics - Technical Department takes care of life, health, and military uniforms.
That harmonious coordination has made the unit environment more stable, tight but also full of humanity and closeness. This coordination also helps to maximize the combined strength: The ideological difficulties are resolved by the Political cadres , the training problems are resolved by the General Staff, the life problems are promptly supported by the Logistics - Technical Department.
The cultural and spiritual life of soldiers is diverse and rich. |
With the training results in the first 6 months of 2025 being 9.2% higher than the same period in 2024, the above model has truly helped Company 12, Battalion 3, Gia Dinh Regiment "change its skin". In training new soldiers, the results of the company's political education test were 100% satisfactory, of which more than 88.21% were good and excellent, much higher than in 2024. In particular, the number of healthy soldiers remained at 98%, meals were guaranteed in both quantity and quality, and the menu was 30% richer than before. Spiritual life also improved, cultural and sports activities were organized regularly.
Sergeant Tran Hung Lam, Squad Leader of Squad 4, Platoon 31, Company 12 shared: “When the comrades from the Regiment's agency come down to join the activities, all difficulties and questions are listened to and resolved promptly. That helps us feel more secure and excited in studying, training, and being disciplined while always having a comfortable spirit.”
Captain Bui Duc Viet, Policy Assistant of Gia Dinh Regiment, who is directly involved with many grassroots units, shared: “Going to the grassroots is not to inspect but to help. When being close to soldiers, we help the unit remove and completely resolve difficulties and problems. The greatest benefit of the model is not only the specific results but also the trust that soldiers have in their superiors.”
The effectiveness of the model of increasing the number of agency cadres to the grassroots level is not only in the numbers, but also in the profound changes, creating changes in the way of thinking and working. When soldiers feel deep concern, they will be more self-conscious in observing discipline, more active in training, and more open in expressing their thoughts. This is the foundation for building an environment of solidarity, democracy, and discipline in the unit.
Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Truong An affirmed: “The above model has fostered trust among soldiers at the grassroots level, creating motivation to compete and complete all tasks well. With high determination and the right approach, this model will bring practical results to the Gia Dinh Regiment, becoming valuable experience for many other units.”
