Top Medical and Pharmaceutical Schools Enroll Candidates with Good English Skills

This year, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Vietnam National University, Hanoi ) will enroll 720 students for 6 majors. Of which, Medicine alone has 260 quotas, Pharmacy 220. The remaining quotas are 60 for each major (Dentistry - Maxillofacial, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Imaging Technology, Nursing).

Admission methods include: direct admission and priority admission, based on high school graduation exam results, university preparatory students, HSA competency assessment test results, English certificate and based on the specific mechanism of Hanoi National University.

For the high school graduation exam scores, the school uses 4 combinations: B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology), D08 (Math, Biology, English), A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), D07 (Math, Chemistry, English). Of which, the combinations A00 and D07 apply to Pharmacy; B00 and D08 to the remaining 5 majors, including Medicine and Dentistry.

This is the first time that the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi has used two groups with English subjects. Previously, the school only used A00 for Pharmacy and B00 for all other majors.

According to the 2025 enrollment plan, Hanoi Medical University uses the D01 combination (Math, Literature, English) to enroll in Public Health and Psychology.

This year, the school also used the A00 combination (Math, Physics, Chemistry) for the first time to recruit students to the following majors: Ophthalmic refraction, Medical testing techniques, Rehabilitation techniques, Nursing, Midwifery, Dental prosthetic techniques, Nutrition, Social work, Medical imaging techniques.

The school recruits more than 1,900 students, using two methods: direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the school; based on high school graduation exam results.

Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy plans to recruit more than 2,500 students according to 4 admission methods. Regarding admission combinations, the majors of Medicine, Dentistry, and Traditional Medicine will recruit combination B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology).

The fields of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Nursing, Nursing specializing in anesthesia and resuscitation, Midwifery, Dental prosthetics, Medical testing techniques, Medical imaging techniques, Rehabilitation techniques, Nutrition, Public health, Preventive medicine consider 2 groups B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology) and A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry).

The school's Social Work major recruits students from 4 groups: B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology), A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), B03 (Math, Biology, Literature), B08 (Math, Biology, English). From 2026, the school will not use the A00 group to recruit students from the Social Work major.

The school notes that the combinations are considered for admission together, and there is no regulation on the difference in scores between the combinations. For training programs using the combination of admission with English, candidates are required to take the high school graduation exam in English. The school does not convert the Foreign Language certificate used to exempt the high school graduation exam into the Foreign Language score for admission.

Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy announced that it will use 4 admission methods in 2025, including: considering the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam, direct admission, considering academic records and considering candidates who have completed the university preparatory program. The main admission combinations include A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology) and D07 (Math, Chemistry, English). In which, the combination with English subject is applied to the Pharmacy major.
