On the afternoon of June 26, The Cong Viettel confirmed that central defender Bui Tien Dung will continue to be with the team. The new contract of the Ha Tinh player will last until 2027.
Center back Bui Tien Dung is a typical product of the Viettel The Cong training center. He joined the team when he was only 14 years old. Bui Tien Dung grew up with Viettel The Cong, making a great contribution to helping the army team win the 2018 First Division championship to return to V.League. Two years later, the center back born in 1995 and Viettel The Cong won the 2020 V.League, and also received the Vietnam Silver Ball award.
“This is not just a football team, but a part of Dung’s flesh and blood. After 16 years of accompanying, Dung has always clearly felt the trust from the leadership, teammates and fans. Dung pledges to continue to strive to inspire, lead the younger generation and work with the team towards higher goals,” Tien Dung emotionally shared on the day of signing the new contract.
Not only is he a pillar of The Cong Viettel, in the national team, Bui Tien Dung is a familiar face in the period of great success of Vietnamese football. He and the Vietnamese team have won titles such as AFF Cup 2018 and 2024 championship, fourth place in ASIAD 2018, runner-up in U23 Asia 2018 and champion of U19 Southeast Asia 2014.
Regarding the military team, Director Do Manh Dung highly appreciated Tien Dung's expertise and influence on The Cong Viettel. The contract extension with the player born in 1995 is part of the strategy to preserve the identity and tradition of the military team. Bui Tien Dung is expected to continue to be a pillar for the next generation of players.
