Ministry of Health requests recall of 'Hai Be Appetite Syrup' nationwide

The Food Safety Department requested local health departments to review and recall all 'Hai Be Delicious Syrup' products that authorities have determined to be counterfeit.

Hai Be delicious syrup is advertised on social networks and e-commerce platforms.

On June 20, this agency requested the above in the context of Ninh Binh Provincial Police prosecuting and detaining Tran Dai Phuc, Director of Hai Be Company Limited and Le Van Hai (a capital contributor of the company) for the crime of trading in counterfeit food products , according to Article 193 of the Penal Code.

"Review, inspect and recall all fake Hai Be Delicious Syrup health protection food products still on the market", the Department requested and suggested that the local health sector coordinate with Ninh Binh Provincial Police to handle and resolve according to legal regulations.

Three days ago, the Food Safety Department also advised people not to use this product while authorities were verifying.

Authorities allege that over the past two years, Hai and Phuc's Tiktok account "Gia Dinh Hai Sen" has frequently posted videos selling many products such as cosmetics and functional foods, most of which is a health food called "Hai Be Delicious Syrup". Users later gave many negative responses, so this channel "came into the sights" of the investigation agency.

Searching the headquarters of Hai Be Company Limited in Van Phu commune, Nho Quan district, the police seized hundreds of packages of cosmetics and functional foods without invoices or documents proving their origin.

Assessing the quality index of "Hai Be Delicious Syrup" printed on the packaging, the police determined that the ingredients of vitamin A, calcium, and vitamin C (the main substances that create the product's effects) were only less than 70% of the declared amount. According to current regulations, this food is determined to be counterfeit.

Police said that from 2024 to present, through social media channels Tiktok shop, Facebook, Shopee "Gia dinh Hai Sen", "Hai Sen"... Hai Be Company has sold more than 800,000 products to the market. "Hai Be delicious syrup" alone has sold more than 100,000 boxes.

Hai Be Syrup in 2024 has been granted a certificate of product declaration registration and a certificate of advertising content by the Department of Food Safety.

Recently, authorities have continuously discovered cases of manufacturing and trading fake medicines, fake milk and fake health food on a large scale and operating for a long time, causing public outrage. Authorities recently discovered that two nutritional supplements for infants, Baby Shark and Medi Kid Calcium K2, produced by Herbitech Technology Company, were also counterfeit.
