Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism organizes art programs to raise funds and support people in storm and flood affected areas

In recent days, storm No. 3 (Yagi) has caused severe damage to both people and property in the northern provinces and cities. Responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front , continuing to promote the tradition of solidarity, "mutual love and support", "the rich help the poor" and promoting the power of culture to join hands with the Party and State to quickly restore production and support people to stabilize their lives, on September 13, 2024, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism met to agree on the policy of implementing art programs to raise funds and support people in the northern provinces and cities that suffered heavy losses due to storms and floods.

Accordingly, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung assigned the Department of Performing Arts to coordinate and direct 12 art units of the Ministry to develop a plan to organize 6 art programs.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung requested that art programs must be appropriate to the actual situation, demonstrate the nation's ethics of mutual love and solidarity, and call on people nationwide to unite to support compatriots and localities suffering severe consequences of storms and floods.

Part of the money from ticket sales and donations during the organization of art programs will be sent to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to support localities and people affected by storms and floods, requiring financial transparency and publicity.

Acting Director of the Department of Performing Arts Tran Ly Ly said: "Following the direction of the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Performing Arts has issued and implemented it to 12 performing arts units."

Accordingly, the Ministry's art units will perform performances from September 15, including: Vietnam Puppetry Theatre performing the program "Children's Moon" at Thuy Dinh Stage - Vietnam Puppetry Theatre, 361 Truong Chinh, Thanh Xuan, Hanoi (at 9:30 a.m. on September 15, 2024); Youth Theatre performing "Full Moon Night Party" at Youth Theatre, 11 Ngo Thi Nham, Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi (8:00 p.m. on September 16 and 17, 2024).

The Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra will perform the concert “Lalo STravinsky” at the Opera House, No. 1 Trang Tien, Hanoi (8:00 p.m. on September 17, 2024); The special art program to support children affected by storm No. 3 “Mid-Autumn Festival without separation” of the Vietnam Drama Theater, performed by People's Artist Xuan Bac and People's Artist Tu Long, will take place at 7:00 p.m. on September 17, 2024 at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace, 91 Tran Hung Dao, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi;

Vietnam Cheo Theatre performs the program "Countryside Confessions" at Kim Ma Theater, 71 Kim Ma, Ba Dinh, Hanoi (8:00 p.m., September 18, 2024); Vietnam Contemporary Arts Theater performs the music night "Hanoi - The Years" at the Opera House, 1 Trang Tien, Hanoi (8:00 p.m., September 20, 2024).

Previously, on September 11, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trade Union held a ceremony to launch a fundraising campaign to support people affected by storm No. 3.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Party Central Committee member and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung said: Storm No. 3 has complicated developments and caused serious damage to the property and lives of the State and people. The Politburo, the National Assembly, the Government and the Prime Minister have issued many documents directing the urgent implementation of measures to support localities in overcoming the consequences of Storm No. 3.

“In addition to strategic solutions, with the traditional cultural beauty of the Vietnamese people, which is solidarity, joint efforts, mutual support to overcome difficulties; responding to the call of General Secretary, President To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a launching ceremony to support compatriots affected by storm No. 3.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has called on all cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers to take practical actions to support the people who suffered losses. This is also an urgent task, and we will respond with all our feelings and wishes, encouraging cadres, civil servants and public employees to provide more material and spiritual support to help people in flood-hit areas overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives soon,” the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized.
