On the afternoon of May 17, Mr. Huynh Van Loi, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Binh Dinh province, said that the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province has just issued a document agreeing to the department's proposal to name Nobel Avenue and honor Nobel Prize-winning scientists who have come to Quy Nhon City in recent years.

The above project was proposed based on the recommendation of Quy Nhon City People's Committee. Currently, the project is being developed to submit to Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee for approval. It is expected that the locality will mobilize funds from socialized sources and philanthropists for investment.

Accordingly, Nobel Avenue will be deployed in Quy Hoa Science Urban Area (in Ghenh Rang Ward, Quy Nhon City), where there is already a science avenue named by the 1999 Nobel Prize-winning professor in physics Gerardus't Hooft (Netherlands) in July 2017.

According to the proposal of Quy Nhon City People's Committee, Nobel Avenue is implemented in conjunction with the placement of statues of Nobel Prize-winning scientists who have visited the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science andEducation (ICISE, in Ghenh Rang Ward, Quy Nhon City) for seminars and research.

Mr. Nguyen Phuong Nam, Vice Chairman of Quy Nhon City People's Committee, said that over the past years, thanks to the contributions and tireless activities of Professor Tran Thanh Van and his wife, the first scientific urban area in Vietnam has been opened in Quy Nhon City. Currently, in addition to the Science Discovery Center, ICISE Center and scientific research institutes, there are also many businesses investing in software park projects, educational science urban areas, hotels for science, etc.

"Naming Nobel Avenue is to honor and show respect for Nobel professors who have visited Quy Hoa. In addition, this also creates a new highlight to create a completely new scientific tourism route for visitors to Quy Nhon," Mr. Nam added.

Alfred Bernhard Nobel (1833-1896) was a Swedish chemist. He was an industrialist, invented dynamite, became a millionaire, and then used all his assets to establish a science award named after him. In Vietnam, schools in Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, etc. were named after him.
