Billiards: Tran Quyet Chien wins continuously, gets ticket to knockout round

Tran Quyet Chien and the top Vietnamese players won consecutive victories to get tickets to the round of 16 of the Gabriels 3-cushion carom billiards tournament, round 1, 2025.

On August 28, within the framework of the Gabriels 3-cushion billiards tournament, round 1, 2025, the qualifying matches of group GH took place to compete for the last 4 spots for the round of 16. The groups promised to be very attractive with the participation of top Vietnamese players such as Tran Quyet Chien, Bao Phuong Vinh, Chiem Hong Thai or Thon Viet Hoang Minh.

Tran Quyet Chien got a ticket to the round of 16, after winning 3 consecutive victories at the Gabriels 3-cushion carom billiards tournament, round 1, 2025. Accordingly, the number 1 player of Vietnam defeated Hoang Phuc (30-15, 19 shots), Dang Hoang Vu (30-13, 19 shots), Doan Minh Kiet (30-2, 13 shots), Chuong Thanh Nhan (30-7, 17 shots). In which, the player from Ha Tinh scored big series of 11 points and 9 points.

Also in this round, Bao Phuong Vinh attracted attention with a 30-4 victory in just 7 innings against Tuan Khanh in the opening match. Phuong Vinh has now risen to the top of the "best game" tournament (along with Pham Quoc Thich) with an efficiency of 4.286. Bao Phuong Vinh also won a ticket to the round of 16.

Chiem Hong Thai also showed impressive form when he defeated Ho Hoang Hung with a score of 30-21 after 17 innings in the decisive match. The player born in 1999 also participated in the round of 16. In another development, Nguyen Duc Anh Chien also showed his class and advanced to the round of 16.

The 2025 Gabriels Tour 1 3-cushion carom billiards tournament took place from August 25 to 29 in Ho Chi Minh City, attracting the competition of nearly 260 top players in Vietnam. The tournament was organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards & Snooker Federation (HBSF) in collaboration with Tuong Thanh Club, Vinabida and played on 8 Gabriels Rafale 2.0 tables.

This is a tournament organized in the form of a stage with 4 qualifying rounds and 1 final round. Notably, the 8 best players of the final round will be sponsored to attend the World Cup stage held in Korea in November 2026.
